Russian hackers tied to recent cyberattacks on U.S. political organizations breached a Vermont utility, the Washington Post reported Friday.
A code associated with the Russian hacking operation aimed at the U.S. presidential election, which the intelligence community has named Grizzly Steppe, was detected within the Vermont system.
The Russians did not disrupt electrical operations, officials told the Post.
According to the Burlington Free Press, the city-owned Burlington Electric was the target of the hack.
Vermont Public Service Commissioner Christopher Recchia said malware was discovered on a laptop that was not connected to the grid's operations.
"The grid is not in danger," Recchia said. "The utility flagged it, saw it, notified appropriate parties and isolated that one laptop with that malware on it. . ."

What you have to worry about with the Obama admin is that they are the ones behind what they accuse others of. This could be planting a seed to give credibility to another planned event.
It really is, but it fits the media's template and the Obama administration wants it peddled so it will go out on the airwaves 24/7. In reality, any Russian "hacking" related to the election that may have occurred was probably done by thieves engaged in phishing attempts. We've already been told that the WikiLeaks DemocRAT disclosures were an inside job done by a disgruntled Bernie supporter.
Not to mention the fact that the idiots in the DemocRAT Party were using unsecured equipment. As soon as Priebus learned that the RATs' servers had been hacked, he contacted the FBI; they checked his servers and pronounced them clean.
But of course, the LIVs will never be told this.
I have no idea if this story is true or not.
But I do know that the press is trying to be delegitimize Trump.
All governments try to hack other governments, including the USA. Russia did not affect the outcome of the election. Our press is evil.
I don’t know how suspect it is - if they were to hinder the maple syrup business it would be disastrous for the USA......./s
Talk about hype and nonsense. So they are reporting malware on a laptop not connected to the grid and not involved in operations. Malware is an extremely generic term that means nothing without knowing what it is made to do. Furthermore the malware had some “russian code”, which could mean only a small portion of it comes from russia. Much ado about nothing, in other words FAKE NEWS!
just watching Russian porn.
So some doofus was using a company laptop to view Russian porn sites, notorious sources for malware, and gets said company laptop infected with ... malware.
Aaaaiiiiyyeee!!! The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming!!! We done been hacked!!! The grid is compromised!!!
They’ve got to realize how stupid this sounds to anyone under the age of, say, 60.
‘Russians Hacked Vermont Utility’ is all over internet news pages...
“...Believe nothing the Obama administration says. If an EMP were to occur....”
It bears repeating that control of the entire U.S. Military complex needs to be immediately removed from this evil, insane POS...especially the launch codes.
He cannot be gone soon enough.
He lives in Vt too.
OMG someone downloaded MALWARE! The Russians did it!
IF the attempt WAS made, bet it was Islamists...
How much porn was on that laptop?
The US never hacks Russia?
justifi ation fabricated to support the big lie
actual physical pain is the only way the lying ca be stopped
A code associated with the Russian hacking operation.
Any hacker can make up a CODE it’s what they do.
That was my first thought. If employees didn’t go to questionable sites on their work computers they would not be infected with malware.
Typical WAPO since Bezos bought the rag.
