Cyberwar: President Obama, living up to his promise, has hit Russia with sanctions for hacking the U.S. election. We're all for protecting America's information grid. But the timing and Obama's reasoning for the actions raise serious questions about the real motivation.
"All Americans should be alarmed by Russia's actions," President Obama said from his vacation in Hawaii. "Such activities have consequences."
He then announced sanctions, including giving 35 Russian intelligence officials 72 hours to leave the country. He also levied sanctions against a number of high officials of Russia's two main spy services, the GRU and FSB, along with companies that work with them.
To be clear, this is a move that has bipartisan support. Immediately after announcing the sanctions, Sen. John McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham appeared at a joint press conference, calling Russia's hacking a "brazen attack on American democracy" and saying that retaliation was long overdue.
And we certainly agree. President Obama knew about Russia's hacking operations as far back as July, and possibly earlier. In September, he even sent FBI chief James Comey, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnston, and White House counterterrorism advisor Lisa Monaco to brief top lawmakers in Congress, including the House and Senate leaders and ranking members of the Homeland Security and Intelligence Committee.

What were to happen if Obama had a “heart attack” while out on the golf course?
A big nothing. Like the rest of Zer0’s term.
Pretty much. Our Lügenpresse no-doubt already has their ‘Trump loves Russia/Putin’ garbage articles typed up for when this B.S. is reversed after Obama mercifully leaves office next month.
He’d still lie about his score!
LOL! I saw someplace this morning that by Trump saying ‘it’s time to move on’, that his statement proves complicity on the “alleged” (some ersatz ‘reliable source’) Russian ‘alleged’ hacking. Again, NOBODY will address what was in the released material and either confirm or deny the validity. THAT is the issue.
Hang on here. IBD claims this has bipartisan support, then cited two of the most liberal Democrats in the Senate.
There was NOTHING THERE.
"The source had legal access to the information," Murray said. "The documents came from inside leaks, not hacks."
At this point — Trump should say nothing.
We are down to 21 days left of this F’n a$$wipe and when he leaves Trump can set about un-F’n everything this retard touched.
One problem I had trouble with was this "tricking" folks to change their password. If you're already there....why "trick" anyone.
Next....Obama said the Russians also hacked the RNC. RNC said you're full of crap.
Next...If you knew this was happening in 2105, why continue with hacked systems. How stupid are you??
That's why it had to be an inside job....not the Russians.
From the looks of Trump, he’s ignoring all of this, and not in the least being affected by it. The sanctions are nothing burgers. Compared to what Obama and Kerry did to Israel, it’s a pat on the butt of Putin and the Russians.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Putin ignores Obama, and issues some kind of reset with the USA for the incoming president.
I would ask Obama to show proof. There is no proof other that the fact that the Podesta emails were probably hacked thru Clinton’s server, and they could have been easily released to wikileaks from withing the CIA etc.
The big issues of late are with regard with Israel.
I got stuck listening to NBC News on this story. Repeated references to the “bipartisan” support for Obama here. Plus a lot of alarmist rhetoric and a nasty-looking photo of Trump.
Barky’s sanctions have bi-partisan support. Linda Grahamnesty and Juan McLame approve of them. Wow! There’s a sterling silver endorsement if you ever saw one!
What does that even mean?
You cannot "hack" the Nov election in the month of July.
I believe Obama is making the claim that Russia helped US voters learn the truth about Hillary's emails.
1) I've seen no proof that Russia was involved at all.
2) Telling the US voters the truth is not normally considered an international crime and act of war.
3) The fact that Hillary's emails show her to be corrupt and incompetent is pretty significant. Why gloss over this and act like it doesn't matter?
We’ve known for at least 8 years that O’Beelzebub is a vindictive little child.
Well, it was a nice try. LOL! Weird how these assclowns can just ignore things like this and all we get is crickets. DJT says ‘it’s time to move on’ and everybody (msm/alt-left/radical extremists) is screaming “HE NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED!”* New sheriff 1/20/2017. BOOM!
*Could they at least wait until he’s sworn in before impeaching him? Dumbasses.
Leftists are purposely misusing the language. Generally speaking, half of all elctronic records ‘security incidents’ are caused by those inside the victimized organization.
It’s pretty clear that DNC and related emails were so poorly secured that they have no idea whether it was an inside or outside job.
Looks like FBI et al just catalogued a bit of the constant internet security probing appearing to originate in Russia and claiming that is something unique and targeted at Democrats when it is not.
Obama is doing his best to sabotage the Trump presidency.
