Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.
SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.
This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California's state government with a two-thirds "supermajority."
To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking.
Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policymaking: it ignores experience, common sense and most of all human nature especially its darker side.

But they’re still arresting the Johns (Janes) for now, right? And the pimps/traffickers.
As far as prosecuting the minors, I’m not sure that is the correct solution as they are the victims. Child protective services and rehabilitation is the better way to go, IMHO.
Not surprising.
Bill Clinton just moved into Nancy Pelosi’s guest house.
He has that “No prosecution Card” issued by the Obama administration and certified by the MSM.
go after the johns with a vengeance....
Could a 17 y/o pimp a 14 y/o to a 17 y/o?
I agree...waiting for the San Andreas fault to do its thing and split the liberal areas from the rest of the state will take too long.
Liberal democrats are sick, twisted, demented soulless creatures that live at the bottom of a swamp. #DTS
So if it’s NOT illegal for kids to do it, how can it be illegal to pay for it?
This will save a lot of sickos trips to Singapore or wherever they go.
Thank you for pointing this out. It is part of an even bigger human trafficking problem, with organized crime involvement.
Seems like being arrested would be the best thing for these underage sex traffic kids wouldn’t that at least get them into some type of home or help? Otherwise you just let it go and don’t arrest them, sorry MeganC that doesn’t make sense to me.
It is just another step towards decriminalizing pedophilia to satisfy the perverts in Hollywood.
What you’ve written is exactly the purpose of the bill. Thank you.
Democrats have a super majority in California because of Mexicans and Mexican illegals. How dumb are these immigrant idiots voting for socialist democrats? They buy the media lie that Republicans are “racist”. What morons.
This is the USA’s future if we don't repeal the 1965 immigration act.
True. This is in context of a larger push to lower the age of consent for sex in general, in California and spreading throughout the US.
There are several nonprofits dedicated to raising our consciousness (!) on these issues, as well as pushing legislation in multiple states.
It’s all marching in lockstep with the LGBT agenda, which is encouraging youngsters to “come out” as gay or trans, and “express their sexuality” with the help of adult “allies” or “mentors” even in elementary school.
And of course all this is preceded by the “kids are gonna have sex so we might as well give them condoms, pills, and abortions” mentality of the 60s sexual revolution.
IOW, it’s a pedophile agenda.
In California, they’re pushing lowering the VOTING age to 16, with smoking, drinking, and the age of consent snuck in alongside as “children’s rights.”
And parents will have none; they’ll be designated an oppressor class, and can be harassed, prosecuted, sued for violating the “rights” of their children, either for attempting to discipline them, or for failing to support or pay for whatever immature, irresponsible demands they make.
I suppose as long as the kids are just selling sex to other kids, no one will be in trouble. (sigh)
Yeah, keep telling yourself that.
Here’s a clue: that’s the official line.
