Seems like being arrested would be the best thing for these underage sex traffic kids wouldn’t that at least get them into some type of home or help? Otherwise you just let it go and don’t arrest them, sorry MeganC that doesn’t make sense to me.

They don’t need to be prosecuted for a crime to be handed over to family services. They are still minors, and can be made wards of the state.

What’s been happening is that these girls get arrested, they get thrown in with adults, and then law enforcement often hands them right back to their pimps/captors when they make bail.

See, the way law enforcement works is if a girl gets kidnapped and raped by one man then maybe she’s a victim.

But if a girl gets kidnapped and then raped by five hundred men she’s a whore.

This law addresses the problem but I expect it will take more than a few lawsuits before the cops stop arresting kidnap/rape victims for prostitution.
