It was the strangest of settings for some very serious breaking news. There was Mika Brzezinski, cuddled up in her flannels on Morning Joe‘s special Christmas set. In the previous segment, Joe Scarborough had grilled Sean Spicer, whom President-elect Trump yesterday named as his White House spokesman, over Trump’s tweet of yesterday in which he said that the US needed to greatly strengthen its nuclear arsenal.
Spicer repeatedly refused to say that the Trump tweet came in response from a statement by Vladimir Putin, just hours earlier, announcing Russia’s intention to strengthen its own nuclear arsenal.
When the show returned after a break, Spicer was gone, but Mika and Joe announced that during the break Spicer had been on the phone with Trump, that Mika had posed a question about the nuclear tweet, and that in response Trump told her: “let it be an arms race because we will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all.”

The arms race has never ceased. The Russians and the Chinese have been very openly, and always secretly, expanding their military for years. It seems that it is only when the United States decides to protect itself that it becomes serious.
I have full faith that it is only the United States that is stupid enough to disarm itself.
If one ever wanted an exclamation point to the assertion that the ‘news’ is just entertainment, there it is. They should have brought out a dancing bear to liven things up.
The Donald has been studying carefully how Ronaldus Magnus dealt with the then Soviet Union, and is applying the same sort of solutions in today’s context. Like Reagan, Trump has inherited a vastly weakened and woefully under-prepared war making apparatus, and this is an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Force the Russian Federation to spend themselves into economic oblivion, if that is the way they want to play the game, otherwise the Russians can gear back a little and play a much longer game of forging a more solid economic base, and rely less on military buildup. We are going to build up our second-strike capability to such a degree that any attacker will very carefully consider the consequences if their first strike is less than a knockout punch.
It didn't take long for Putin to back down.
Putin also comes off as a very astute observer of the US political scene.
Hahaha…hilarious that the subject under discussion was a nuclear arms race…and the moderators were sitting their in their comfy jammies. Well, Pres. Trump warned them that he would be unpredictable.
It is a game for devoted, committed patriots on both sides. Not for a halfrican Muslim with destruction of his own supposed country in mind.

About six months from now the true horrors of the last eight years will be in full relief. Nobody could have pulled this off but Trump.

Reagan knew how to bankrupt the left. We should take a lesson from his playbook, as well as Alinsky’s and apply it to the current political climate. Force the left to spend their own money after removing every avenue for them to get it from the treasury.

From Putin’s very complimentary words about Trump lately, I think the two of them are having a little fun seeing how hysterical they can make the useless media.
