Turning Point in Syria as Assad Regains All of Aleppo {hurrah!}
The New York Times ^ | 22 December 2016 | Ben Hubbard

Posted on 12/23/2016 12:15:07 AM PST by Cronos

The evacuation of civilians and fighters from the last rebel-held part of Aleppo concluded on Thursday after long delays because of frigid weather, putting all of Syria’s industrial capital back in the hands of President Bashar al-Assad’s forces for the first time since 2012.

...Tens of thousands of people have been removed from eastern Aleppo since Dec. 15. Before the last buses left on Thursday, the Red Cross said that 34,000 people had left the city, including 4,000 fighters who had left in their own vehicles the previous night.

...The seizure of all of Aleppo by Mr. Assad and his allies signals a turning point in the nearly six-year conflict.

...Throughout the conflict, Mr. Assad has characterized the rebels seeking his ouster as foreign-backed terrorists, and he hailed the retaking of Aleppo on Thursday as a blow to those forces. He also thanked the international backers who helped.

“Liberating Aleppo from terrorism is a victory not only for Syria, but also for those who really contributed to the fight against terrorism, especially Iran and Russia,” Mr. Assad said at a meeting with a visiting Iranian delegation, according to the Syrian state news service, SANA.

...The ordeal had changed his thinking about the rebel movement, and he criticized its commanders for the infighting that had long sapped their movement and for the Islamist agenda that some had adopted.

“I might stop fighting. I lost the motivation,” Mr. Nadaf said. “The goals changed — the situation on the ground changed.”

I recall her boasting about seeing him sodomized to death. A depraved POS.

No, incorrect. Reagan ended Russian influence in Syria. Putin reasserted it after the A-hole in Washington drew a line in the sand and then ignored it. Neither Putin nor the New York Times nor Assad are friends of America.

>?????? Most of them were women and children. You are confusing Syrian rebels with ISIS.

The Non ISIS Syrian rebels had a chant: Christians to Lebanon, Shiites to the grave. It was a war of ethnic cleansing and genocide with the government being the only force that wasn’t murdering people for their religion.

Go check out live leak and you’ll find videos of the Syrian rebels setting up make shift check points and murdering anyone who was a Shiite Muslim. Western media completely ignored it.

He was cooperating. He throttled emigration from Africa to Italy. The justification for his termination is unclear to me.

He also opened his weapons arsenal for inspections. He was cooperating and there was no justification for action against him. Libya was prosperous at the time obama and hillary attacked them.

I’ve read before about a pipeline being a reason. It may very well be part of it but I believe there would be more.

According to the article, the CIA had their hands all over it which doesn’t surprise me.

Russia wasn’t strong enough in the 90s and 00s to support their allies like Syria. They only really became involved after watching Hillary butcher Libya.

Putin is certainly a friend of Christianity and western civilization far more than any recent US leader. Putin may not be my friend but we share common interests. We both want to see Christianity and western civilization continue while the left and Islam are trying to destroy both.

The situation in Syria is a confusing one with different groups trying to remove Assad. By not helping th I se rational elements in the insurgency, we aided ISIS and similar groups. A guy who drops barrel bombs on women and children, blows up his major cities and drives 11 million people into exile is not a good guy. And Putin is not our friend,

There’s an old Greek saying: Those the gods would destroy, they first made mad. The Left has gone mad and is 100% evil.

Obama and Hillary continuing the ‘special relationship’ started by Franklin Roosevelt in 1945 with the House of Saud.

The Saudi-Qatari backed Al Qaeda forces in Syria (Al Nusra) were ‘our Islamic fanatics’.

The friends of John “Al Qaeda” McCain and Lindsey Al Grahamnesty who are virtually the same as Islamic State, enforcing Sharia, keeping women as property etc. etc. in their enclaves like the ones they controlled in Aleppo.

George W flew Saudis back home after 9/11 including relatives of the terrorist leader, bin Laden.

In an Islamic nation fighters are always Jihadists. There are no liberal Muslims of any large number.

>A guy who drops barrel bombs on women and children, blows up his major cities and drives 11 million people into exile is not a good guy.

Assad and all his people, men, women, and children were going to be murdered by the rebels. The rebels where quite open about it. When it’s war to the knife, then it’s war to the knife.

>And Putin is not our friend,

Why do you hate Putin? It because he kicked out the gay propaganda mongers? Or because he restored Christianity to the center of Russian life? Maybe because he defends middle eastern Christians that Muslims are trying to slaughter that so offends you?

Consider for one moment that almost everything you’ve read about Putin is generally leftist and neo-con media lies and actually examine his track record.

CIA likes things being destabilized. I am sure it’s good for their job security. It’s justification for keeping them on the payroll, securing their pensions, etc.

What exactly was Assad doing that made us want to supply terrorists to overthrow his government?

He was blocking the gas pipeline from the Gulf States into southern Europe. That made him an international terrorist and a brutal dictator and a murderer of his innocent population.

The fact that he won the last free, internationally monitored election Syria was able to hold in 2007 and the fact that he did a good job of keeping the peace in his country while protecting the non-muslim communities must be ignored. Money, money, money. Always follow the money.

Peter Hitchens blog contains his recent Sunday columns and in one of them from Sunday December 11th he noted that the Saudis have two things the British need, oil for sure but even more desperately, money.

The same goes for the USA as well.....

So we end up being in bed with the Saudis and their jihadis trying to overthrow Assad in Syria.

Would the Middle East be better off with Hussein, Mubrarak, and Qaddafi? I think there would be a lot more people alive, and Europe would not be on fire.

Out there, there are no good guys. There ARE, however, varying degrees of bad.

However bad Assad might be, ISIS has demonstrated that they are worse
. It is thus in America’s interest that he does not fall.
