When in grad school in the 70’s, some friends and I sang Chalkin’ and a Huggin’ at a school sponsored talent show. That song is about a girl who is so fat that, to avoid becoming lost in her vast wasteland while hugging her, you have to mark her with chalk. Very complicated story, with a Beach Boys song the least of the issues. The main claim is that he acted inappropriately with two students. The culprit is making it a story about “California Girls”. From the article, it’s hard to tell whether that he really was consorting with students in an inappropriate way.
You’d likely be expelled. But audience disapproval is the optimal response.
Right. “California Girls” should be renamed “Things from an Indeterminate Location”, so as not to offend anyone.
