Ohio (Trump) presidential elector resigns, blames 'political bullying'
Columbus Dispatch ^ | 19 Dec 16 | Robert Wang

State Rep. Christina Hagan, R-Marlboro Township, indicated that she will resign as a presidential elector after two residents over the weekend filed an emergency lawsuit alleging that the Ohio Constitution prohibits a state legislator from serving as a presidential elector.

“It is unfortunate that the extreme left has engaged in what is the most obvious display of partisan and extreme political bullying that can occur,” said a post on Hagan’s Facebook page late Sunday night. “I however will gladly resolve any potential frivolous lawsuits from moving forward by resigning my opportunity to Chair and cast a vote as a member of the Electoral College in order to ensure no delay in the official election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States.”

Yet, Bubba is an elector from NY. I know he’s not an elected official; but if there was ever a conflict of interest, well then, none exists,

I am so sick of this war on our system! These people need to be CHARGED with whatever crimes they are guilty of. Harassing our electors is way beyond any freedom of protest. They are engaging in sedition, plain and simple. The Left is getting dangerous. The Left is moving toward active coup d’etat.

The old Ruskies had a way to deal with subversives in government....it was called a purge. IMO, these lefties have gone so far around the bend, they need be permanently purged from humanity.

There is nothing wrong with Democrats doing what they did, if their claim was in fact true. If anything, the Democrats made Trump’s victory more secure by making sure that this elector was obeying the law.

I’m reluctant to acknowledge that the Republican Party in Ohio would miss such a thing as a member of the state legislature not being able to be a presidential elector.

I can’t imagine why that would be the law.

I agree that if it is the law, we want the law followed.

I’m just having a hard time believing the RNC missed it.

Read the article. She resigned because the lawsuit filed could have prevented Ohio electors from finishing today. Not a whimp.

They certainly have succeeded in doing so the past 8 years.

She is a wonderful, pro-life representative (Alliance) who recently sponsored the Heartbeat Bill which passed in both the House and Senate in Ohio. The Gov. went on to veto it.

She sounded like she was trying to do the right thing.

I don’t know the state law, but I’d be surprised if the republican party screwed up this badly that they didn’t know a legislator couldn’t be an elector.

No offense to anyone, but I have found that people who complain about "bullying" invariably fall into two categories: 1. women 2. homosexual men If this had been a normal male elector, he may very well have stepped down but he never would have used the term "bullying" to describe the legal battle he was facing.

Tend to agree. I will agree that bullying does exist. But the way she used it diminishes from the actual bullying that takes place.

Except she didn’t cite phone calls or other forms of harassment. Just the law suit to stop her from serving. That, according to the article, was the extent of the bullying.

Were you going to give her the millions of dollars she would need to defend herself?

Your good except I lived there for 21 years. Originally Massachusetts.
It was the republican supervisor that pushed this then the democrats took over...
She lost the election and blamed it on me.
The DA lost his election and yes I claim both their losses... :)

That's a real problem right there. It is often very expensive to defend against the left's attacks. Exhibit A is the attacks on Palin while she was governor.

I see no easy solution to this. But one thing I do know. Resignations only encourage the left to do more of the same. Maybe Palin, etc. could have set up GoFundMe type accounts...just thinking out loud here.

She had set up a legal defense fund and it was ruled illegal by the left’s judges.

Interesting, I did not know that. I'll have to do a bit of reading to find out why the fund was ruled illegal.

A shame, poor lady.

What an honor to be an elector, I'd love to be one someday.

Ok now here's the report on the faithless brainless electors, who should all burn in hell for impugning the reputation of Alexander Hamilton.

The shame of the great state of Texas, Christopher Suprun, carried out on his threat to vote for Kasich. Another Texas elector, yet unknown, voted for RON PAUL, who I believe officially left the party to join the Libertarians so they get their 2nd vote ever, and it doesn't go to Gary Johnson, in a final embarrassment to him. One the 2 also failed to vote for Pence and instead voted for CARLY FIORINA for VP, probably Suprun cause Paul/Fiorina would be a weird combo. Several times now VP nominees have ended up with more E votes. Thankfully these 2 clowns were the only GOP electors to defect. Elector Art Sisneros was replaced at his request and 3 other Texas electors were disqualified and replaced. Clearly Texas GOP/the Trump campaign must take care in choosing electors 4 years hence, there was a vetting failure in Texas. No reports of anything funny in any other "red" state.

Now for the fun part, the Shillery defectors. Some of whom said they would not have voted for her even in she won!

3 Unknown Washington State electors voted for COLIN POWELL, as he is technically a Republican these electors become the first in history to vote for someone FROM THE OTHER MAJOR PARTY. Maybe they are #sexist. They all voted for women for VP though, 1 for Liz Warren, 1 for RINO Senator SUSAN COLLINS, and 1 for WA Senator Maria Cantwell. Powell sadly gets the honor of being the first Black Republican to get electoral votes.

Now here's the best part, another WA State elector, Native American and Hillary hating Berner Robert Satiacum, voted for, get this, FAITH SPOTTED EAGLE aka "Standing Stone", a South Dakotan Lakota Elder, anti-oil pipeline rabble rouser, and clinical psychotic who thinks she can hear voices in the wind or something, "memories of the land". She becomes the first Native American to get an electoral vote for President. It's a shame that what could be an historic occasion is marred by the absurdity of the situation. For VP Saticum voted for WINONA LaDUKE, two time Green Party VP nominee, who is also Lakota Indian. GOP Vice President Charles Curtis was part Indian, I think.

Thank you Bob, this was the hilarious postscript we all needed.

And finally when everyone had stopped paying attention, Hawaii voted, and elector David Mulinix voted for Bernie Sanders, and Liz Warren for VP. Here I was afraid Bernie would get shut out! That's the ticket libs wanted, I think it would have lost by an even larger margin.

Electors is Maine and Minn tried to vote for Sanders but their votes were invalidated and cast for Clinton. One them also tried to vote for HI Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as VP. It was reported that a Colorado elector also attempted to vote for Sanders. Another CO elector tried to vote for Kasich, the GOP Sec of State replaced him immediately.

So the official totals, and all Congressional precedent is to count them as is, are as follows:

For President

Trump 304

Clinton 227

Powell 3

Sanders 1

Kasich 1

Ron Paul 1

SPOTTED EAGLE 1

For VP

Pence 305

Kaine 227

Warren 2

Fiorina 1

Collins 1

Cantwell 1

LaDuke 1
