I think I have the answer. Per the 12th, majority of those appointed (electors). Thus if 4 are missing, only 534 total. Thus majority is 268 not 270. Nope. The majority is still 270. It is a majority of the total possible.
And now, before Texas comes in, a word from our chili sponsor...

Oversight is the noun form of two verbs with contrary meanings, oversee and overlook. Oversee, from Old English oferseon look at from above, means supervise (medieval Latin for the same thing: super- over + videre to see.) Overlook usually means the opposite: to fail to see or observe; to pass over without noticing; to disregard, ignore.

I'm watching a live-stream of the stuff in the Texas State Capitol in Austin.
The Secy of State just announced that 34 electors are present. Two more are declared ineligible. Pursuant to the Texas Election Code, a vote is taken to decide if these seats will be declared vacant.

If there’s something rotten in Texas, you can bet Ted Cruz is somehow involved.
To: kiryandil
4 electors missing are going to be voted ineligable.

>>This just in off the AP Wire, dozens are jumping to their deaths from high rises in Americas cities as Trump heads toward winning the Electoral College. Oh good. More office space and condos just became available. Trump is fixing housing and commercial rental issues already!
I bet they thought, since they were snowflakes, they'd drift slowly to the ground.

Maine always splits their vote by district (2 districts, + 2 for state winner). Trump won one district and received one EV as such. No defection.

OK 2 aren’t there; where are the other two ?
Texas has 38 electoral votes, but only 34 are physically in- house.
What happened?

That’s not a switch. That’s the result from election night. Maine and Nebraska allocate EVs by congressional district, and Trump won a district.
