‘Heroin is the worst thing in the world’
Boston Globe ^ | 12/18/16 | Allen

Posted on 12/18/2016 7:33:25 AM PST by pabianice

The story fit the grim emerging genre of the opioid epidemic: addicted caregivers who imperil their young children, their very public failings instantly held up for excoriation on social media. Tamara and Jacob had abruptly been added to a national tableau, fused in the popular imagination with the Ohio couple slowly turning blue in their SUV while a 4-year-old watched from his carseat; the Milwaukee pair revived with Narcan in front of the woman’s 2-year-old son; the woman who overdosed in the toy aisle of a Lawrence dollar store, while her toddler wailed and pulled at her arm.

Much less visible are the lives behind the headlines, especially of those who are trying to help the broken get whole again, and to bring life and hope to the children.

Probably one of those non violent drug offenders that Obama freed was the seller here.

1)Drug dealers should be locked up for life.

2)Hang the dealers or shoot on sight.

Having worked for many years in the ER of a large hospital located in a major city I've seen more suffering (of various sorts) caused by drugs than I can possibly chronicle here.Add to that the fact that I lived directly above a guy who is now sitting in *Federal* prison for heroin trafficking,my vote goes for Option #2...with a strong preference for hanging (shooting being too humane).

On Planet Lurker no such thing would exist.

Food aid for the truly needy would consist of 3 MREs per day picked up weekly at a privately run distribution center.

My brother in law is serving a several year incarceration in the Mississippi state pen because he was selling. He has a fourteen year boy he has never taken care of. Kid is screwed up even said he thought he was gay last year

Because the only responsibility anyone has is to pay taxes to Nanny government.

Other than that, nothing is their fault.

There is nothing natural about this poison

there is nothing the least bit poisonous about opioids, assuming proper usage as pain remediation...

in his end stages, my father was able to breathe more easily after a spoonful of liquid morphine...

Mexican cartels have insured that super pure meth and heroin are flooding our streets in huge supply, and at low cost to the users. Every time I hear a Mexican President complain about a wall being built at our border (which might help bust some of the mules) I feel like wringing his neck and shoving his face into a mountain of this poison. This is the primary source of the problem IMHO.

Moral relativism is at the core of degeneracy. When people denied that sobriety is essential for decent, rational behavior and indulged in all sorts of mind altering, epicurean substances and claimed it was their right, their body and their choice, the self destructive narcissistic behavior eroded the culture and caused real harm to others.

Pathetic.

I had a case where I was trying to get a meth head’s kids back after her “recovery.” Just as success closed in after a 2 year battle in and out of the court room, she again picked meth, much to the distress of the kids.

After the judge said the final too bad so sad, I found out she had been using the entire time. I no longer take those cases; the meth users are trapped from the first use and cannot fully recover.

The problem is with people in pain ( emotional) who try to self medicate themselves to get through the day or night - using this junk that is designed to hook them and kill them off

Like afghan and mexican drug lords and their bankers and their politicians care about enslaving and killing Americans

When I drove the cab, I had all kinds of abusers in it as I drove overnight.

Never saw anything like a crack addict before.

Heroin users are in bad bad shape, crack users are off the scales.

Almost immediately after they smoke, they’re gone.

Where’s the “recreational drug use doesn’t hurt anybody” crowd on this?

FR used to have a small but loud covey of them. Maybe they OD’d.

Lock up the dealers for life.

Put the big dealers, particularly the "importers", out of business with extreme prejudice.

Punish the foreign governments who are either actively involved or looking the other way. Help them to get their minds right.

Offer the users, the addicts, an opportunity to get rehabbed and back to work, or maybe to work for the first time, once.

If that fails, or if they relapse, they get sterilized and then get to go live in a special resort for the rest of their lives, with three meals a day, and plenty of productive, physically vigorous activities to keep them busy and their minds on things other than dope. They might even enjoy certain aspects of it, who cares, but... no more life amongst the living and no more influencing the yutes.
