Ivanka Trump calling lawmakers, urging action on childcare policy

President-elect Trump's daughter, Ivanka, is lobbying Congress ahead of her father's inauguration next month to start working on reforms to childcare policies — an issue she championed while on the campaign trail.

The 35-year-old mother of three and business owner has been calling House and Senate lawmakers encouraging them to get moving on legislation, the CEO of Main Street Republican Partnership told IJR on Thursday.

"She's calling some to talk about the child care provisions," Sarah Chamberlain said. "It's gonna be a big issue for her ... I think she's hoping to [play a large role in the administration]."

I love Trump and support him 100%. That said, Ivanka is starting to become really irritating.

Here’s better idea: Reform child-care policy by closing down every Federal program pertaining to child care.

What are the details? Personally, I think parents should care for their children...not the government.

Sure, get more women working so they can wreck their homes and let the state and TV raise their kids so their marriages will eventually wind up in divorce.

She just wants to fix the govt so that one day even a mother of 3 like her can indeed “have it all.”

I have no problem with an increase in the tax deduction for dependent children, or with tax exemptions aimed at helping parents cover the expenses of raising kids.

Anything that obligates taxpayers and/or employers should be DOA.

Yeah, guess you saw I’m getting nervous too. A cabinet full of corportists and a kitchen cabinet with lifetime liberals Jared & Ivanka is not good news. That’s going to make advancing a conservative agenda that much harder.

Her plan is special tax credits and savings accounts for child care

This is one capable young woman. Ivanka and her two oldest brothers have grown up in this world. They are not intimidated by Congressmen or Government appointees as the average American would be. They are ‘to the manner born’. I know I would be intimidated. Ivanka may be pushing the allowable limits of what an unelected, unappointed aide can do. Hopefully Donald will give his daughter and her husband the actual authority to keep helping the Trump Transition Team and still remain within the law.

We are a stones throw from the abyss due to years of illegal invasion and 8 years of obama, the economy stinks, the NeoCons and Dems are itching for WW3, obamacare is killing us, and Ivanka, not even an elected official, is wasting valuable time and political capital lobbying for this?

Not exactly putting We the People first.

One thing they were talking about pushing for is tax-deductible child care expenses. If I could deduct my day care tuition, I’d be pretty thrilled!!!!

They need to get rid of occupational licensing laws. In many states you need a license to be a childcare provider, and this raises the cost of child carer substantially. Unlike some of Ivanka’s other ideas, this one wouldn’t cost taxpayers anything.

Already available with many companies as a dependent care savings account. Money is taken from your check tax free and then you apply that money against your daycare expenses.

I don’t know who “they” is, but the Federal government should have no role in that whatsoever. If a state wants to require occupational licensing, then so be it.
