A Virginia inmate asked a federal court Wednesday to block the state’s plans to execute him next month with lethal injection drugs from a secret compounding pharmacy, suggesting even a firing squad would be more humane.
Attorneys for Ricky Gray said in a federal complaint that there is a serious risk that Virginia will “chemically torture” the man to death when it uses compounded drugs for his execution scheduled for Jan. 18. I don’t know if it’s still true but Utah gave you the option as the inmate including Firing Squad. I think Gary Gilmore shoes firing squad. let’s give them 2 or 3 options because we are such believers in choice and that will make everybody happy.

Gets my vote. I’m sure it’s more of a choice than his victims got.

“The 2006 Richmond spree murders took place during a seven-day period in January 2006 in and around Richmond, Virginia, and claimed the lives of seven people, including four members of the Harvey family and three members of the Baskerville-Tucker family. The perpetrators were Ricky Javon Gray and his nephew Ray Joseph Dandridge. Dandridge’s girlfriend Ashley Baskerville assisted the pair as an accomplice during their murder and robbery spree until she herself became one of their victims. After Gray and Dandridge were arrested, two prior murders, including the murder of Gray’s wife, and a near-fatal assault in late 2005 were also linked to the men.
“Dandridge pleaded guilty to murdering the three Baskerville-Tucker victims in exchange for receiving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Gray was charged with capital murder in connection with the Harvey family killings, convicted, and sentenced to death for the murders of Stella and Ruby Harvey, who were children aged 9 and 4 at the time they were killed. Gray’s execution date has been set for Wednesday, January 18, 2017.”

What is unbelievable is that Virginia spent $66k for the drugs to execute 2 people.
