WASHINGTON (AP) In claiming that he scored "a massive landslide victory" in last month's presidential election, Donald Trump turned history upside down.
In fact, his winning margin in the Electoral College is on the other end of the historical spectrum, far closer to the narrowest win in history than to the widest.
Speaking on "Fox News Sunday," Trump claimed that "We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the Electoral College." Hillary Clinton, he said, is "down to a very low number." He added that Democrats "suffered one of the greatest defeats in the history of politics in this country."
The final Electoral College margin was Trump 306, Clinton 232, for a winning percentage of just under 57 percent. That ranks this year's outcome as the 13th-closest of the 58 presidential elections in U.S. history, according to a tally by Claremont McKenna College political scientist John Pitney.

Democrats "suffered one of the greatest defeats in the history of politics in this country." - Accurate
Ok, it could be argued that it was a "landslide" in the sense that it abruptly changed the landscape. The media went from people insisting it was un-American to challenge the results of American elections to making challenging to the results of an election as a full time job for instance.
Oh goody, an AP Fake Check.
Pray America woke
Exactly.
B S ! 300 electoral votes has been considered A LANDSLIDE for decades!!!!! Trump has OVER 300 at 306 E.V’s. That makes it a landslide.
AP you lie! Fakenews
Toss out illegal votes and he takes Nevada, New Hampshire and Virginia at a minimum.
I know your question, “What would we do without the AP?” is rhetorical, but my answer would be, “I’d like to find out.”
As to their point, however, I’d consider a win of any magnitude a landslide of sorts when one considers that virtually every Democrat and Republican pundit, along with almost every swingin’ Richard or Rita in the media, predicted a landslide win for What’s-her-Name.
Well the NYT and ABC reported Hillary was up 12% with less than 2 weeks to go. MSM were reporting Hillary a landslide winner. Poops Trump won. So yes it was a landslide for Trump.
These libtards refuse to accept Trump’s election. This is to enable them to walk around for the next 4 years saying that Trump stole the election.
If Hillary had gotten 306, her new name in the MSM would be Hillary Landslide Clinton.
AP=subversive fake news
“306 is not a landslide by historical standards. Its darn good though. Way more than close.”
It doesn’t matter as much as governing like you have a mandate. One of my favorite things about Trump is he could have won by 1 ev and would call it a landslide and stick to his arguments... Do not dismiss that this is just as much as de-legitimizing his forthcoming administration as it is about stopping the bleeding on their side. Trump could very well destroy their party for decades if he does a good job for everyone and sells it as such. They need to give their people a reason to never like him. It will hard to be a blue collar working stiff in the midwest and not vote for Trump in 4 years if he has his way.
Okay, we cant kill the liberals. And we cant eat them. Both acts are illegal. So, then what to do about their constant, raging, brutal violence and threats?
How do we counter the vicious, never-ending Fake News attacks of their world-wide propaganda machine?”
We laugh at them.
Ridicule them.
Mock them.
Challenge them, call them liars, call them names of shame and blame.
But dontEVERfor one thin moment or instance, EVER believe them.
Take them seriously, as you would any lethal threat. Yes.
But laugh in their faces. And ignore them thereafterANYthing they say, print, or screen. Minimize and kick to the curb, their feverish, panicky lies, their perverted Fake News, and their false, self-destructive, phony world of an ash-filled, burning Nemesis.

Among them is Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s 1936 win over Alf Landon. Roosevelt won 523 electoral votes to Landon’s eight, and 61 percent of the popular vote to his opponent’s 37 percent. In 1984, Ronald Reagan won 525 electoral votes to Walter Mondale’s 13, capturing 59 percent of the popular vote.
Neither of President Barack Obama’s victories, in 2008 or 2012, are considered to be landslides.
Agree. Tempest in a Tea/Crock/Ganga Pot.
The system is rigged and not constitutionally compliant imo. So well never know how legal voters actually voted.
Looks like a landslide to me.
Hmmmm...
70 electoral votes is just a near tie miss huh?
AP: They’re so cute trying to act like they are still relevant.
LOL, may Santa bring your gift.
