NEW YORK (AP) -- Police have arrested four Virginia men who they say were part of a conspiracy to smuggle guns from their home state into New York City for sale on the street.
Prosecutors say 28-year-old Clive Dixon, the suspected ringleader of the group, was apprehended along with three of his suppliers following an investigation into the "iron pipeline" of illegally trafficked firearms.
Emmanuel Dentmond, 22, and Teal Holt, Jr., 27, were arrested at separate Virginia Beach residences and are currently in the Virginia Beach City Jail awaiting extradition.
According to court documents, between March 28, 2016 and November 17, 2016, Virginia Beach-native Clive Dixon sold 86 firearms, including 65 pistols, 13 revolvers, 5 assault weapons, and 3 shotguns, as well as corresponding ammunition, to an undercover NYPD detective posing as a firearms dealer. The sales took place in or around the undercover detectives vehicle over 15 separate transactions in Manhattan and the Bronx.

Posing as a firearms dealer?
Like in a legit sale?
When Trump enforces the 2nd amendment countrywide and the states have little or NO say in who can own a gun, this nonsense will stop.
Gee, lemme guess . . . If Obama had sons . . .
Second Amendment-supporter hilLIAR voters?
I could be wrong, but I’m thinking that since the transactions were completed in/near cars on the streets of New York City, no one involved was under the impression that the sales were legit.
None of those 86 firearms was used in a crime.
The correct response to this is to immediately take away more God given, Constitutionally protected rights of all Americans. Maybe add a senseless regulation or two for good measure.
That’s always solved our problems in the past.
I think the correct response is to use laws already on the books to prosecute people who illegally traffic in firearms.
“Maybe add a senseless regulation or two for good measure.”
It’s already started here in VA. A Dim state rep has a bill requiring all firearms to be registered. It will go nowhere, of course, but it’s a start.
The Virginia Citizens Defense League will hold our Lobby Day on Jan 16, and this woman is sure to hear an earful about her stupid idea.
Teddy Kennedy’s Oldsmobile has killed more people than ALL of the weapons my family has hod over the past 90 years.
I think the correct response is to repeal the National Firearms Act, the Gun Control Act and the Hughes Amendment. Then, sue and prosecute the State of New York and the City of New York for civil rights violations (of the Second Amendment) under color of law.
Also, my S&W Model 28 once served as the duty weapon for a Virginia State Trooper and I do not know whether he ever had to use it.
I can honestly say, though, that to date I have not found it necessary to kill anyone with any of my firearms.
