Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson Is Now Interviewing to Be Donald Trump’s Secretary of State

Rex Tillerson, Exxon Mobile’s XOM 0.51% CEO, is in the running for a new job: Donald Trump’s Secretary of State.

The Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed transition adviser, reports that the energy executive is set to set to meet with Trump for an interview this week. Tillerson’s interview comes after Trump aides said the President-elect had settled on four finalists. But Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said Sunday that “there’s not a finite list of candidates,” adding that there’s “more than four.”

Most notably, Trump is considering 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He is also considering West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin and California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, the Journal reports.

Who isn’t being considered for SoS???

We do need a sec of Energy. If he is picked for that, we’d be drilling under every teepee and totem pole hehe

Regarding SOS, just my opinion, but I think Trump is interviewing many people for many posts (cabinet and lower) under the banner of a SOS interview. Trump was not a DC insider, so he may be wanting to get to know numerous folks to fill his many vacancies. Just a thot...

Several names have been floated for Sec. of Energy

Harold Hamm, Continental Resources CEO (gas and oil industry)

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin

“Who isn’t being considered for SoS???”

So, far I haven’t been contacted ... at least not yet. I kinda expect the call any day now, though.

This is great. We need to crush this “climate change” crap in a body slam!! It is total and complete bull shit. Then we need to bomb Saudi Arabia and kill at least 3000 of those sunni bastards ( for their 9/11 attack on AMERICA) and produce our own OIL AND GAS. This decay is over!! This is AMERICA!!

I wonder what Al Gore would think if Trump appoints Tillerson.

...

I was going to say that’s probably why Trump met with Gore today, just to see the expression on his face.

Good observation. I don’t know who is advising Trump. As you say, he’s not an insider and doesn’t have these contacts, and with his major money-making job being “TV celebrity,” he’s playing in a whole different ballgame.

That said, I honestly think he’s rising to the challenge and really is going to get good people to help him. I didn’t like him but I voted for him, and the reason I didn’t like him was that he never seemed to have a program or play well with others. But I sure wasn’t going to vote for Hillary!

However, I think he’s been doing a great job and I just wish the US had seen this Trump during the campaign.

Some nuclear would be good, too. It drives enviros crazy because it solves their carbon emission problems but they still can’t support it because they really want us to live like the Flintstones

Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson Is Now Interviewing to Be Donald Trump’s Secretary of State

Now there's a nominee that will make every single liberal head in the nation explode.

If the man is qualified, I say "go for it", President-elect Trump. For the most part, I'm going to defer to Trump's judgement, since it was sufficient to get him elected, and try to refrain from the knee-jerk second guseeing that Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, and their fanboy ilk are so gleefully engaging in...

I disagree. While he clearly would have a good handle on dealing with negotiations, if he is an up from the ranks exec, Sec St has to deal with worldwide scenarios and not only actions but being able to predict consequences of those actions. One reason Clinton was so awful as SecSt was that she couldnt see past her own idealogical and personal biases and wants. She had zero vision. I think this guy is likely better but President Trump, IMO, does need a person at State who has knowledge, int’l experience and vision. Not Romney. If Bolton weren’t such a hawk and Huntsman such a weasel either would fill the bill.

The more we get these out of left field SoS candidates the more likely the choice will be Bolton, IMO. Trump knows there will be a poop storm from the MSM/Dems when Bolton is announced so the announcement is being putting off until right before Christmas.

he never seemed to have a program "

Aggghhh!!!

I for some time thought that was just a leftist farce of a talking point, but enough Trump supporters and many more of his Pub detractors on the individual citizen level say that also, that I think this may have been the weakest part of Trump's campaign.

Not, mind you, that Trump did not have a program. As Rush, and others, have pointed out, Trump built more of a detailed "program" (to use your word), readily available to any citizen with an Internet connection, with his position papers, than any other Presidential candidate in recent memory. But... Somehow those position papers did not get much emphasis.

Toward the end of the campaign, Trump did espouse his "1st 100 Days" plan, but, even that was rather distilled down to the basic ideas, so as to fit into rally speeches easily.

Every person I forwarded Trump position papers to (with the exception of one die hard lib) found much to agree with. IMO, Trump would have won the popular vote, and would have had much more solid victories in several "close" states, if Trump had enlisted his supporters to get those position papers to another 20-30 million voters.

BTW, I should add that I too thought that The Donald had serious liabilities as a candidate. But, it was evident he’d really “tapped into a vein”, and those position papers, for the most part, sold me.

Start jailing dems and rinos. The start appointing oil CEOs for every open gubmint department. Then get rid of the departments. All of them. Except postal department. It is the only constitutional department.

Exxon don’t let people with bad flaws get to be COB. They are picked from a very high caliber band of people.

I’d say good pick for about anything.
