Gen. David Petraeus may be on the short list to be our next secretary of state, but his affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, led to him being convicted of mishandling classified information; Broadwell had access to journals of Petraeus that contained sensitive material. Im not so sure hes the best pick to lead the State Department. Moreover, isnt mishandling classified information exactly what were trying to avoid and what we slammed Clinton for? Well, another venture Gen. Petraeus is diving into is gun control policy (via CNN):

I love flyin’ my flag once again. I flew it the first four years with a cautious hope but then in ‘12, down she came Wednesday morning after the election.
Yeah, ol’ Petraeus has jumped the shark as far as being qualified to work sensitive, high federal offices. With all due respect to his exemplary service prior to sticking his [censored] where it didn’t belong, he can go pound sand.
My flag goes back up on Inauguration Day (or perhaps the next day, since I’ll probably be in DC for the big event).
Good on ya for being in D.C. on inaug day. I’d have a “journey too fahr” from where we are. But I wouldn’t be “In no ways tahred” if I did.
Whether or not Broadwell had a security clearance is completely immaterial. She had a clearance by virtue of her status as an Army Reserve officer, not because of her civilian status as Petraeus’ biographer. She had NO Need to Know the information that Petraeus gave her.
According to court records, “Three days before he switched careers [retired from the Army to become Director of the CIA], Petraeus gave Broadwell [his mistress] eight notebooks hed compiled that contained highly classified information and other secrets, including the identities of covert officers, intelligence capabilities, quotes from high-level meetings of the National Security Council, and notes about Petraeuss discussions with President Obama. Petraeus was allowed to plead guilty to a MISDEMEANOR charge of mishandling classified information, which doesn’t sound like he was persecuted at all.
By comparison, Navy PO1 Kristian Saucier was indicted on one felony count of unlawful retention of national defense information and another felony count of obstruction of justice, found guilty and sentenced to one year in federal prison. So who was really persecuted and who got off very lightly?
“Which also means no Romney.”
Or Guiliani, for that matter.
They’re all the same.
Betrayus is a long time globalist. He is teaming up with Mark Kelly for gun control.
Absolutely correct.
No need to know means NO NEED TO SEE.
That was hard to get in the minds of some of the young, hard-charging, ring-knocking immature shave-tails, but once explained to them by a very senior officer, they realized why it is that way.
I know it sounds trite and some would say silly, but the fact remains, if it is in your head, it can be extracted.
No one can resist forever.
If you don't know it, you can't give it up...for whatever reason...ranging from torture of the physical type to extraction via blackmail or the honey pot.
And the honey pot has gotten more info than one would ever imagine physical torture gaining.
I see we still have FReepers trying to aid and abet the Left in handcuffing Trump - pathetic.
He got his gun control marching orders at the Bilderberg Conference in June.
I read a statement released by Veterans for Common Sense (which is where I got my info) and in retrospect, it is probably BS.
The “Common Sense” part of the name should have been your first clue. It’s nearly a universal flag for the absence of any real common sense, IMO.
He lost my support.
“”They should put a different General at State.””
Heck - I can’t tell anymore which replies are serious and which ones are sarcastic. If this is a serious one, why on earth do we want any military officer at State? Hillary interfered and meddled in countries affairs that were none of her OR OUR business. They push DIPLOMACY on us every time they turn around and don’t adhere to it themselves. Go to the cocktail parties and leave military matters alone!!!
And here I thought I was the only one. Went back up the day after the election. I also keep the neighbors on their toes as I have 14 flags that I will fly on appropriate days. Well, 13. There’s one that just pisses em off and I’ll not fly that one. Did get a complaint about the thin blue line flag from some people that, when educated, decided they’d be more careful.
I’m afraid so. After reading the linked article, I read a number of other ones on the same subject. When I saw that Bloomberg is a supporter of the Veterans Coalition for Common Sense, then read a few of their statements that had nothing whatsoever to do with suicide among veterans, but focused on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and others who shouldn’t - and by law can’t - own guns, the intent is pretty clear.
Doesn’t matter. Petraeus knew he was wrong. He gave classified material to a person without a need to know. He broke the law. Period. End of story. He got off easier than any of his soldiers would have for doing the same thing. Just because Hillary got away with more does not in any way justify minimizing the General’s misdeeds. By law he isn’t even eligible for a clearance which makes him ineligible to be SecState.
I’ve been to several inaugurations, democrat and republican, and I enjoy it a lot. However, for obvious reasons, I skipped the last two horrific events. While I enjoy celebrating the peaceful transfer of power, I deeply resented the corrupt transfer of power to an anti-American bigot that we experienced.
