President-elect Donald Trump broke bread with a fierce critic and now-possible cabinet pick Mitt Romney Tuesday night at Jean Georges Restaurant in Trump International Hotel.
Trump, joined by his chief of staff designate Reince Priebus, sat with Romney at the fancy French eatery in Columbus Circle.
The meeting took place after a weekend of internal strife in his campaign over whether to hire the former Massachusetts governor as Secretary of State.

I agree with that entirely. It’s a major reason why I voted for him.
With Mitt now being almost 70 years old, SOS is probably what this would be about, not being labor or some of the other “lesser” positions, SOS is very powerful.
I had to switch channels when Megyn Kelly came on, but made the mistake of watching Don Lemon on CNN. He just told his guest that Mitt Romney looks more presidential than Donald Trump.

Romney already apologized to Trump I’ll bet.
There must be something going on behind the scenes we don’t know about. Otherwise, there is no logic in it.

One of the best things going for him was his 40 year record of multi level multi national teams of employees.
He had people in a lot of foreign nations, dealing with the issues they faced in those foreign nations. He was up to date with regulations, business dealings, and even governments around the world.
He had these multiple layers of management, that he had to delegate to and get things accomplished with.
Some folks think he just shouted at all of them and badgered them. I don’t think that at all. I think he had to listen quite a bit to the regulations and problems they all faced. With his experience, he knew the work-arounds.
I don’t think we have had another president who was this in tune with management teams. This is right down the middle of the plate for him.
This is exactly what he has done over the years.
His department heads will be reporting back to him every few days and he’ll be tweaking what they are doing.
He will hear any comments that differ with his guidelines. If someone pulls that noise, expect to see them gone in a hurry. We saw how fast he moves on appointments during the campaign.
The guy really knows his stuff, when it comes to managing people.
I predicted he would accomplish ten times what Obama did. Obama didn’t know how to manage people. He turned them loose. Trump is a hands on guy, and he’s going to hit the ground running so hard, he’ll almost defy the media to keep up with him.
Earlier today I said that I thought some of his own people might not be able to handle what is ahead. They haven’t worked in this type of environment.
He may demand too much of them. Some of them may not be able to function at the level he will expect.
He expects results, now...
Some of them are more geared toward working to a goal in extended months or years. He’s geared to seeing progress in days and weeks, certainly not more than months.
Some thing will take longer, but he will want to see major movement. He’ll get it.
We will win.
I’ve never heard a credible story about any employee of Trump’s who didn’t like him and think highly of him.
That can’t be said about many people.

Ny guess is that Romney will get some position, as a gesture of forgiveness from Trump, but it won’t be Sec. of State.
My guess for SoS is Gen. Petraeus, despite some of his problems. The positives far outweigh the negatives.

Watching the video it seems to me they have been having all these meetings to work out what Romney could say that would be acceptable to both of them, but falling short of apologizing at all. This makes me think that Romney will be named SOS.

Yeah, Romney was supposed to be this great “manager”—then he completely mismanaged his 2012 campaign.
Giuliani? He actually has foreign policy experience, you know. In October of 2001, he tore up a $10m check from Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal after the prince suggested US policies in the Middle East contributed to the attacks of 9/11. Moreover, we have seen that Giuliani and Trump are two New Yorkers who work well together.
Then there's General David Petraeus. He actually won the Iraq War, before Obama threw the victory away. I don't know how conservative he is, however. And there is the matter of that West Point grad, LTC Paula Broadwell.
And then there is Ambassador John Bolton. He's actually worked in the State Department and has a handle on what a mess it is and is uniquely qualified to clean it up.
Also, apparently there is Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, in the running. He's had a lot of foreign policy exposure on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
My vote: Giuliani. But Anybody but Mittens!

I think Romney is going to get it. I guess we’ll find out today. Politics makes for strange bedfellows.
Probably an effective person for the job but how he can forgive him after the nasty things he said is beyond me. Surely there must be SOMEBODY else who would also be effective.
I trust Trump for doing the right thing and if he thinks Romney is it, then I’m behind him. We’ve got to give him a chance to do a good job and that includes choosing Romney.
