Over the weekend, leading voices of the alt-right movement gathered a few short blocks from the White House for a conference full of speeches and panels to discuss their vision of the future. The event took on new meaning with Donald Trumps surprising victory over Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.
According to the New York Times, the early parts of the conference had a much more subdued tone when it came to racism and rhetoric towards minorities and immigrants, but after reporters called it a day and left, the discourse became harsher and more overtly angry.
With Richard Spencer as the final speaker Spencer is perhaps the ideological godfather of the movement he ended the evening by espousing white supremacist ideals to the joy of many in the audience.
But now his tone changed as he began to tell the audience of more than 200 people, mostly young men, what they had been waiting to hear. He railed against Jews and, with a smile, quoted Nazi propaganda in the original German. America, he said, belonged to white people...

Actually listening to the whole half-hour video...this whole article is somewhat misdirected.
There are certain items about Spencer’s speech that are objectionable, but the ‘dog whistle’ moments (to borrow an MSM phase) again is an example of tweaking the media on the nose, in the manner of Internet trolls.
For example: why use the term ‘Lugenpresse’ for the mainstream media? Because they know it will get a rise out of them, and that hysterical overreaction is *funny*.
It is a long speech on the hypocrisy of the media, and how the elites of today elevate anything that is degenerate. You might harp on the man’s emphasis on the effect of our popular culture on white communities in particular, but it is simply using the MSM’s own game against them, and calling out their hypocrisy even further; ‘identity politics is okay for thee and not for me’.
Even if you don’t agree with some of his more inflammatory rhetoric (and I disagree with his particular viewpoints on certain items, like his opinion about how the Iran deal actually wasn’t that bad), it is a fascinating speech on its own (and calls out the hypocrisy of the left and its media allies), and well worth the half-hour of your time.
And the sad thing, about his more far-right rhetoric: it is a complete creation of the media and their absolute unwillingness to budge even one iota on their worldview, doubling down on the “white people are evil/stupid/hateful and just need to die” rhetoric.
Substitue all uses of ‘whiteness’ for any other race in this speech, and would there be a similar outcry?

Linking Trump to this trash. Another MSM hit job. But besides us is anyone listening to these morons in the press anymore?
It is fairly bad fiction, actually.
Or created it in print and didn’t hire anybody. Cheaper that way, and just as effective.

Take with a large lump of salt since this is from a neo-socialist site that won’t acknowledge that a group called The Race/La Raza is a racist organization.
Just more fake news.

Can we please stop using the term alt right?
This is a leftist term.
CNN is having a field day this evening about this employing a panel of 6 screaming talking heads.
Although, I think the corresponding term recently coined ("Ctrl-Left") { think "Ctr-Alt-Delete") is pretty cool.
“Richard Spencer was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Dallas, Texas.[8] His father is an ophtalmologist while his mother erected a building in Whitefish, Montana.[8]”
Wut ?
Dr Paul Gottfried started the term alt- right.
I’ve never heard of him, can you give me details or a link?
Yeah, right. All I hear is “Wolf!”
Agree - alt right is a leftist term for anyone who is not GOPe.
I don’t disagree with your conclusions. Just replace him with The ReverendWright and eveverything would be All White! Lol.
I watched about four minutes of the Spencer speech.
What I notice first is that Mediaite lightened the pic of Spencer at the top of the article about five shades to make him look like the whitest white guy ever. It’s clear from the video that he didn’t really look that way.
Next I notice he attributes the “if you will it it’s not a dream” quote to the ADL generally, not to a particular guy. The NYT report says he mentioned the guy’s name but in the video he does not. Not sure the significance of this error but happened to notice it.
Next I notice the NYT report says he was quoting Nazi propaganda when tweaking the media with the word “Lugenpresse”. But then I bump into an Ezra Levant video where Ezra makes the point that it’s actually a much older term and that in fact German Marxists were using it to harangue the press nearly a century before the Nazis did.
And then I have a question. Why did the reporters leave before the headline speaker spoke? They act like it was some big sneaky trick to wait until the press had left before wheeling out the big guns, but couldn’t the press have just stuck around a little longer? Was it sinister of Spencer to speak after their bed time?
I never got to the part with the purported Nazi salutes. I wonder what that was all about.
Didnt they get the message today?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
They got it, which is why they aired this story in the manner they did. Tying Trump to these alt-right people was a clever hit on the President-elect.
“Next I notice he attributes the if you will it its not a dream quote to the ADL generally, not to a particular guy. “
The particular guy is Theodore Hertzel. Strange source for a supposed anti-Semite.
