The Record (Stockton, Calif.)
The father of a soldier who was killed last weekend in Afghanistan was disappointed and hurt after airline passengers booed him and his family as they flew to meet his sons remains.
Stewart Perry, an ex-Marine who lives in Stockton, said the ordeal left him feeling disrespected.
It was really disgusting on the passengers part, he said Friday.
His son, Sgt. John W. Perry, was one of two killed in an explosion at a United States airbase on Nov. 12. He was honored at a memorial service in Lodi on Thursday and will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
The Department of Defense said the blast also took the lives of two U.S. contractors working on the base. Sixteen other U.S. service members and one Polish soldier participating in a NATO mission were wounded.
Perry was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. He was at the base supporting Operation Freedoms Sentinel.
An avid runner, he had been preparing to participate in a 5K run at the base in northeast Afghanistan as part of a post-Veterans Day activity to benefit disabled veterans.
Stewart Perry said he, his wife, Kathy, and daughter were flying on an American Airlines flight from Sacramento on Monday to Philadelphia, with a quick transfer in Phoenix. From Philadelphia, they traveled to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to receive his sons remains.

"So, when the plane landed in Phoenix, the captain made an announcement for all passengers to remain seated and to let a special military family exit the aircraft first, Perry said.
Several passengers in first class began to boo and complain, Perry said.
Some people were saying This is just baloney, and I paid for first-class for this?
How do you respond to this????. What kind of people , other than spoiled rotten brats ,would do something as vile.
Those who boo’d and complained are the first to sh## thier pants and hide behind a brave soldier like this when the shooting starts. He is a hero, not the hero’s celebrated by ABC’S good morning america, a basketball player that came out of the closet
Sounds like just random jerkiness not political.
From the article it sounded to me like it was some rich primadonnas in first class. Not the entire plane. A reasonable guess is that they were democrats, because republicans don’t boo at solders.
Because we don’t know what really happened here
None of the other passengers or flight crew have spoken up yet that I’ve read
This is way out of character for Americans which is why the story gives pause for verification of what really happened...
Democrats took a beating in public opinion after the Vietnam era because of their open disrespect of the military.
So they mounted a campaign to show faux respect for the military in public but continued to work hard to transform it into just another liberal social experiment.
Now it looks like their facade of false respect may be wearing thin and they will no doubt soon be back to spitting on active military and veterans.
We don’t know the full story.
They called it a “special military family,”, so my theory is the first class people thought they were being held up by some big-wig brass they’d never heard of.
Being made late and outranked, in other words.
The only military family that has received recognition and honor was the infamous Mr. & Mrs. Kahn, used at the Democrat convention to embarrass Donald Trump.
“From the article it sounded to me like it was some rich primadonnas in first class”
Yes, most likely Left Coast ‘Elites’ having to wait.
Like Barbara Boxer;
“Boxer, the U.S. Senator, Chides Brigadier General for Calling Her ‘Ma’am’”
First Class jerk!
That and/or there were a few scattered groans and grumbles from a few people already delayed earlier
Which became an entire “first class section booing a gold star family “
In the father’s version
Wondering when he went off on his rant blaming trump
On the aircraft - or off - as soon as he could reach a reporter
His Father was a former Marine. Those idiots who booed the parents should have been admonished by the Captain of that flight.
“Those who boo’d and complained are the first to sh## their pants and hide vehind a brave soldier...”
You’re definitely on to something.
IMHO
Was there a lot of sore loser democRats on the flight?
Yes, to me it seems clear they were definitely NOT booing a “Gold Star family” (that they knew of), because that term was not used.
So the booing sounds rude, but it was NOT b/c of transporting a fallen soldier. It’s too bad for the family they translated it that way.
One sunny day in January, 2017, an old man approaches the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue where hed been sitting on a park bench. He speaks to the U.S. Marine standing guard and says,
I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.
The Marine looks at the man and says,
Sir, Mr. Obama is no longer president and no longer resides here.
The old man says,
Okay, and walks away.
The following day the same man approaches the White House and says to the same Marine,
I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.
The Marine again tells the man,
Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Obama is no longer president and no longer resides here.
The man thanks him and again walks away.
On the third day, the same man approaches the White House and speaks to the very same U.S. Marine, saying,
I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.
The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looks at the man and says,
Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Obama. Ive told you already that Mr. Obama is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Dont you understand?
The old man looks at the Marine and says,
Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it.
The Marine snaps to attention, salutes, and says,
See you tomorrow, Sir!
Not way out of character for Leftist moonbats. They only pretend to like our military, but they really seethe with hate for anything and anyone who protects the United States and its people.
