If A Mayor Violates Oath Of Office To Uphold The Law By Keeping Sanctuary City..Is That Perjury?

If a mayor in the oath of office pledges to uphold the Constitution and all laws and then does not obey U.S. immigration laws, is he or she guilty of perjury for violating that oath of office or guilty of some other crime. If so, Jeff Sessions could have them all arrested and thrown in jail

“Second, please remember States’ (and localities’) Rights. A mayor must execute the laws given by the City Council, to include Sanctuary City laws. So, here the city’s and nation’s laws conflict.”

But on immigration, federal law controls. Immigration is a federal issue. I believe there are immigration laws specifically addressing the mayor of Chicago’s behavior in aiding illegal aliens and not cooperating with the federal government.

I believe to be treason we would have to be at war. I don’t think it would apply.

Here is the short version:

There are already far too many laws and regulations on the books.

They are currently used selectively to oppress We The People.

The existing laws are more than adequate to prosecute treasonous state and federal officers.

All that is needed is the executive resolve to do so.

I remember seeing a video of of Comrade Wilhelm taking the oath of office before BillyBob and only swearing to uphold the City of New York's charter...not state,or Federal, law.Don't know if that's typical of the oath that mayors take.

Apologies - notan expert here - just trying to stimulate 10th Amendment thought...

The only mention in the Constitution is this in Article I section 8 “To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization”

It has been argued that this is not exactly “immigration”.

Which means - let’s be consistent republic-ans - the 10th Amendment applies.

That said, IMHO it does and should become a Federal job. But by the 10th Amendment, states can override. If say a state needs extra programmers and Trump has cut off Elbonia, they should be allowed to import them from Elbonia.

But the rest of us shouldn’t be forced to pay for the Elbonians’ medical care. Cut off their funding.

They will turn off the spigot and sit back, it will do it on its own. There is no way a city can survive

“Apologies - notan expert here - just trying to stimulate 10th Amendment thought...”

I understand the logic, but the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution has been generally held up by the Supreme Court to mean that The Federal government has authority over immigration matters historically. I do believe that the States can constitutionally exercise some authority when it comes to this subject but they can’t “allow” or somehow protect what is otherwise illegal immigration under federal law. But liberals seem to be arguing that cities can somehow do this without consequence and their mayors and city councils can’t be prosecuted. I think this is bogus.

In the scheme of things don’t you think that the federal government, as constrained by the constitution, should be the ultimate authority on immigration into the country? They should be able to ban muslims for example if they see a potential harm to the states as a whole. In fact they can do that right now if they wanted to under the rules of the obama administration. There is no “right” to immigrate here, despite what Hillary Clinton said - absurdly!

No need to apologize.

this reminds me of a story related to me by a local cop.

one of their officers was speeding a little on the way to work. he got stopped and ticketed by a HIghway Patrol officer no professional courtesy warning.
next the local pd just happened to have a few units near the Highway Patrol Hqs and began ticketing the HP officers for speeding etc. It continued with a ticket war and the HP was on the loosing end of the tickets..

eventually a judge got mad at all the tickets and threw a fit and ended the whole thing...morale dont get into a pi$$ing contest with law enforcement officers you are not going to win.

how many federal laws can be found to have been broken by various federal agencies against these cities and their leaders? they will be under a microscope.

Can you imagine cities across the US without federal funding for mass transportation? That would get ugly real quick.

The he would also be able to jail Obama and Bush and most others. I would wager that they will go after cases of active obstruction and some prosecutions will begin to occur. You know that when Trump’s folks start rounding up the criminals (crimes other than being here illegally) there will be those who actively interfere and they will be made examples of.
