CNN)Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told the House Select Committee on Intelligence Thursday he had submitted his letter of resignation on Wednesday night. "(I) submitted my letter of resignation last night, which felt pretty good," he said before the panel of lawmakers, in response to the top Democrat on the panel joking he hoped he would stick around for another four years.
"I have 64 days left and I'd have a pretty hard time with my wife going past that," Clapper told California Rep. Adam Schiff, who also paid his respects to Clapper's service as the hearing opened.

Not unusual....Don’t make a big deal about it.
He was quitting anyway, I am curious to see if some idiot on CNN tries to spin this as a repudiation of Trump.
The man who gave us Snowden!!
Good. Accepted.
Resign before being fired
It’s easier on the ego
Door, hit, ass, way out.
Who cares?
Is he a truly valuable and wise technocrat whose skills and insight will be missed?
Or is he just another political greasy-pole climber and arrogant insider SOB who believes he’s bigger and more important than the game itself?
I don’t know Clapper, but that’s how I would analyze it if I were Trump.
No he wasn’t. He expected to head it under Hillary.
Donald Trump is your wife?
Did he lower his head, glance up, while rubbing finger on forehead?
He was sick and tired of lying on behalf of Obama.
He certainly wasn’t going to stick around to tell us what he really believes.
I feel pretty good about this clown resigning, too.
Clapper lied to Congress.

This is especially true when changing political parties. Doubly so with a non-establishment president.
Nothing here.
Clap on “” Clap off “”.
Now, I’m waiting for John Brennan, the Muslim head of the CIA to leave. He is far more consequential to American freedom than Clapper, IMO.
Mrs. Submareener and I only know Clapper from his days at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) where he over saw the building of a white elephant building in Alexandria, VA.
