Sorry Steve, the Lord is probably gonna be back long before that 1,000 years is up and Earth gonna go bye-bye. Won’t matter where humans end up in this verse, Jesus knows all of the hidy-holes.

I don’t sell humans short. They’re a pretty crafty bunch.

Look at what we have accomplished in the last 100 years.

Come back in 200. Why you won’t even recognize the place.

LOL

What manner of nitwitery is it that makes a 1,000 year prediction?

I don’t think we have 1,000 years the way liberalism is going (and, yes, they will rise again, just like the socialist Third Reich). We need to make space exploration a priority, so we don’t have all our eggs in one deplorable basket. It would be nice to have free people on another world when the totalitarian left takes power over a global government here on earth.

Well we could terraform Mars with greenhouse gases but that won’t be allowed.

Professor Stephen Hawking says humans will be wiped out in 1,000 years unless we find new planet

As Reagan said:

"The trouble with our opposition is not that they are ignorant... it's that they know so much which isn't so."

May he live and be well, but I’ve known two people w/ALS in my lifetime and they died fairly young. That guy seems to live forever.

Hawkings is an idiot, these guys always forecast gloom and doom. I have zero respect for him or his scientific views ...

Not new planets but new environments.
Habitable planets are very rare.

We need to build environments. Hollowed spheres, yes- even Dyson spheres, ringworlds, tunnel cities, whatever.

There shall be human beings, enjoying a relatively high level of civilization, on the planet Earth 10,000 years from now, nay, ten times 10,000 years from now.

By then, it MAY be possible to actually exert control over the climate of the planet, but it probably would not be necessary, as the temperature regulation of the terrestrial globe is a wonderfully well-balanced and tested system, that can right itself from some really devastating catastrophes that have occurred in the past. A good solid asteroid hit did sort of skew things for a couple of millennia, but the earth DID recover, and did it with surviving organisms.

The simple little scratches that humanity can put on the surface of the earth pale in comparison with even a major meteor hit or volcanic eruption.
