Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is under consideration for attorney general in Donald Trump's administration, a Bloomberg News reporter tweeted Tuesday night.
Cruz was seen earlier in the day visiting Trump Tower in Manhattan, where Trump's transition team is talking about Cabinet level positions.
Trump himself tweeted about 30 minutes after Jacobs announced her "scoop," saying he alone knows who will get job offers.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Trump supporter after dropping out of the race, said a Cruz hire would be "a big shock for me," considering the acrimony between Trump and Cruz during the GOP nomination process.
"We all ran together, but there was never a group hug that involved Ted Cruz," Huckabee said on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File."
"I would be very surprised if that was the case," he said, but admitted, "This election has been made of surprises."
Cruz is not well-liked by his Senate colleagues on either side of the aisle, so if he is nominated, he might get 100 percent confirmation support, Huckabee said, "because he wouldn't be in the Senate, and they haven't been that happy with him being there."

Trump just tweeted: “Very organized process taking place as I decide on Cabinet and many other positions. I am the only one who knows who the finalists are!”

Plus if he’s meeting with Ted today, that pretty much rules out SCOTUS. His current priority is filling the cabinet.

Agreed! I thought it was for Chris Christie because he didn’t get the VP slot and has been loyal to Trump. I’m not fully aware of what is going on with Bridgegate, so perhaps he can’t?
If not Chris Christie, I would like it to be Rudy.

I'm fine w this choice.
Prefer Rudy, but Ted (one suspects) would do a total makeover, and would not be afraid to prefer criminal charges against those who might merit such.

If it were true it might save Cruz’s political career. But it’s a political stunt. They are not likely to forget him getting booed off the stage at the convention and making a fool of the people of Texas. People in Texas have longer memories than people in the rest of the country. And they don’t like people who “barely” keep their word. Cruz is likely to lose his primary in the midterm elections.

He will take his first opportunity for revenge. He was already at a Trump call center telling people to vote their “conscience” and the Constitution, and never mentioning Trump, as if Trump has no conscience and hates the Constitution.
A snake then, now, and always. Watch out!

If true, then it signals that Trump wants to get very tough about enforcing the law with these Sanctuary Cities, immigration, etc. and wants someone who will be an enforcer.

A most excellent choice that borders on ingenious.

Interesting idea. At first I thought, "No way" but after recalling that
Sierra Club President testimony I might change my mind. I don't see Trump making the safe pick and the DOJ is a cesspool in bad need of a flush.

And Bloomberg knows that how? Were they at the meeting, do they know what was said? No I don’t think so...there was nothing said either by Trump or Trump Team and nothing by Cruz so how did Bloomberg know this? Oh yeah, I remember: They LIED!!!

That’s my thought too. I’m not a fan of Cruz, but he would very adamant about Clinton, among other things.

Ted Cruz is fine right where he is. Um... NO. He's not. Texans are sick of him and we want him gone!
Portman for Cruz? Even trade? Cruz can start packing in the morning. :-)

Having Ted Cruz as the Attorney General, would make him the most independent AG in the history of the position. Neither side likes him, and thus both sides know he would be equal in the law.
Plus, Trump would now that the office would be completely free of politics and Hillary would be, well for lack of a better word,
SCREWED!
This would be the lefts, the moderate, and the elites worst nightmare.

Texas wants another liberal senator like Cornyn?

Thats my thought too. Im not a fan of Cruz, but he would very adamant about Clinton, among other things. Exactly, a "drain the swap" appointment.
To: Religion and Politics
I would rather see him on the court!!! He is young and would be there a LONG TIME!!!!
To: SeekAndFind
As we all know, this is Trump’s choice to make. However, I think Cruz would be a horrible choice for AG. He’s a liar, a cheat and I think he is mentally ill.
