Lovely cover of Junior Kimbroughs Hill Country classic, Im In Love With You.
this woman is awesome been a fan for some time
Oh, yeah. And, in her mid 20s, she just keeps getting better - a great talent and performer.
My not-so-secret crush. She’s one song away from super stardom. Check out some of her videos playing her cigar box guitar. I play one and it warms my heart seeing young performers getting into it too.

Seen ‘em all on video and in person. Great on oil-can guitar, too. I agree on the “one song away” and she’s got showmanship, for sure.
I’m a fan of blues-playing guitar gals in general. If you are, you might wanna also check out “Sad Sam Blues Jam” on Youtube. Good music, super performances by three young lasses - they really get into it, too - though I think they’re on indefinite hiatus (as a group) at present.
I suspect many of us geetar players picked up or started with a cigarbox guitar or homemade diddly bow of some kind or another.
That was awesome. Watched it twice.
I actually started out on a 6 string about 40 years ago and just never could do it. Lack of talent. Got a cigar box last year and it all came together. I’ll never touch my 6 string again.
Have you seen Minnie Marks At Swamp Thing gig at Rotovegas?
No, I hadn’t even heard of her until now - but I checked it out on YTube, she’s pretty darn good! Have to watch more of her stuff. I thought I knew about most of the bluesy git-fiddle gals! Thanks.

Super song - I actually like this acoustic performance of it better - it’s beautiful, but there’s a bit of audience noise that takes a little away from it:

How many strings on cigarbox? Three? You use a harmonic/open chord tuning, I suppose?
Yup, 3 strings... Open G tuning. Perfect for slide. Really honks through the amp.
That’s a nice lookin’ isntrument, about how much did it set you back? You do some jamming with other pickers, grinners & sliders?
$235 and change, well worth it. At this point I only play by myself or occasionally with my daughter. I got her one custom made (left handed) by a local builder and she’s just getting started.
For the first time in my life I actually feel like I’m making music, and it’s so fun. It’s my therapist, when I pick it up all my stress melts away.
That’s about what I forked over for a Samick mandolin, but as you say, it’s worth it. Strumming and sliding is good therapy, it’s hard to care about much else when you’re makin’ music. Nice that your daughter can pick up on it, too. Music-making is a great gift to give, especially if a sticks with a person for life.
Has Huma done a cover of this for Hillary to cheer her up?
Well... she’s actually a very accomplished clarinet player, so she already has a solid music background. She’s having a ball with the guitar though.
Clarinet, eh? I can handle blues cross-harp, kazoos and a bit of recorder, but you’re talkin’ a real instrument there! Good for her.
