Trump-backing congressman says GOP will use budget 'reconciliation' to repeal Obamacare in first 100 days depriving Democrats of the chance to filibuster it
* Rep. Chris Collins, the first Republican to endorse President-elect Trump, says the GOP will move legislation to repeal Obamacare within Trump's first 100 days
* Party would use budget procedure that would let them jam it through on a simple majority vote, depriving Senate Democrats of the filibuster
* Medical device tax, 30-hour workweek for coverage, employer mandate, employee mandate all could go, gutting the plan
* Says there would be a 'transition' for 2017
The Republican push to repeal Obamacare is going on a fast track under a procedure that would make minority Democrats powerless to stop it, the first Republican congressman to endorse President-elect Donald Trump said Friday.
Republicans who now have unified control of Congress plan to move to repeal Obamacare during the first 100 days of the incoming Trump administration, said Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY).
They would do this under a budget procedure called 'reconciliation,' which requires a simple majority vote to approve tax and spending changes.

damn, why did i even pay the stupid penalty last tax time LOL
Thanks Jim.
Doug from upland needs to come up with a ditty called, “Reconciliation” by the Deplorables.
More winning please.
Also from the un-Affordable Care Act, get rid of ‘children’ staying on plans until age 27, reinstating lifetime policy maximums, and pre-ex guidelines. Insurance companies cannot provide limitless coverage for bare bones costs.

Do the above and take government hands off of health insurance and it will fix itself through supply and demand.
Hardly. Both Canada and Mexico have said that they are open to discussions, just like the Democrats have said they are open to working with President Trump. But don't expect either country to willing renegotiate a worse deal for themselves.
Problem: Two of your quotations are from before the Civil War. We fought that one, and lost. The Feds rule.
Excellent! Trump and the Republicans now have their priorities straight.
I would like to see a tax credit for any penalty paid over that Obamacare mess. Thanks a lot Justice Roberts
A Democrat politician said that if Hillary won, and the Senate had a Democrat majority, they were going to use the nuclear option to appoint Supreme Court judges. McConnell needs to remind of them of that, and just do it!
Excellent.
I’ve written this before, but they need to do it in the dead of night as they did when they passed that monstrosity.
Mitch McConnell needs to have a majority vote to make the confirmation of cabinet officers and Supreme Court nominees a simple majority vote as well. If he doesn’t President Trump will never get anyone appointed.
I've been saying all along that ObamaCare was probably the single most important issue for working-class Americans in many swing states -- especially in the Rust Belt. If the 2017 rates for the "open enrollment" insurance renewals started coming out in mid-November instead of late October, we may be sitting here talking about president-elect Clinton right now.

Eff you too, Pelosi.

..thank Heaven. We currently cannot afford healthcare. I feel like we are playing Russian Roulette...
Remove special healthcare plan(s) for both groups of legislators. They can use what we use.
De-fund NPR.
Prosecute all THREE Clintons; lock them up. (No “Chelsea for President” in 10 or 15 years!)
That's one reason why ObamaCare was such a mess. It was set up as a Federal mandate, but could only be implemented through insurance carriers that come under state regulatory oversight.
This is one reason why I am adamantly opposed to Trump's idea for an open national insurance market. There's nothing wrong with an insurance company in Iowa selling an insurance policy to a customer in New York, but it's going to have to meet the regulatory requirements of the State of New York. If the Constitution means anything to us here on FreeRepublic, then this is not negotiable.
