Just what is America's most well-known public interest law firm really interested in?
To: Academiadotorg
They are the scum of the earth.

No “friend” would have anything to do with this attempt to destroy.

...ADF works pro bono, or free....
A couple of million dollars of legal fees in their pocket isn’t exactly working for “free.”

uh, not it their pocket...

I wouldn't even bother hiring a lawyer to defend me in a case like this.
The founders of this country overthrew a government for far less than this diabolical sh!t.

They only care about “some” civil liberties.

Well it looks like she didn’t “hire” these folks — they volunteered. Do you mean you would not accept a volunteer? No matter what spirit was coming down the road?

The news article sounds ill worded. ADF is furnishing, pro bono, services worth that much. Whether it raises funds from donors to buy them, or its house attorneys donate them, is of no matter to the florist.
ADF rightly sees this as a signal civil rights issue. As long as it gives glory to God, it’s doing exactly the right thing.

The article contains some conflicting information. The victim in this case — the owner of the florist — seems to know that the legal fees now exceed $1M. And the article says the case could bankrupt her.

Bankrupt her in the sense of costing her civil fines and the requirement to shut down her business, if the Washington regulation or regulatory decision is not struck down.

Even so, I hope she's preparing for the eventuality of losing the case.
I sure would be.
And my preparation wouldn't involve lawyers, either.

That sounds like double talk to me.
Your preparation, if medicine will not save your life, will not involve doctors?
But where do you get the medicine with which you will first try to save your life?

At this point, she could be a florist in some other state. People might even donate to her for that purpose.
However, even losing the right thing can mean winning it in a different forum. Dred Scott helped hasten the end of slavery.

Comparing an abuse of power with a natural series of events isn't really a good comparison.
Calling the police when someone is breaking into your house might help, but blowing the perp's brains out will actually save your life.

That's why I'd rather go to jail than pay a penny in fines or legal fees.
Notice how quickly the persecution of Kim Davis in that Kentucky "gay marriage" case ended once the Federal judge put her in jail? Even the plaintiffs in that case begged him not to do it, because they knew it would do great harm to their case.

On the other hand, her situation probably wasn’t going to propel an issue to the USSC. It takes a court fight to do that.

How did a completely inapt comparison get brought into this discussion? I decline to address it.

Like I said ... I would turn to my garbage collector for advice before I had any faith in courts and lawyers.
You're watching an entire civilization collapse before you ... and you're seeing it from the inside. The courts and legal processes are the first ones to become a joke.

OK.
Someone who is sick is victimized by a natural chain of events.
Someone who is persecuted by diabolical homosexuals and the oppressive government at their disposal is not victimized by a natural chain of events. He's victimized by other people.
So let's stay focused on what's happening here. This is persecution, not an unfortunate set of circumstances like the example you gave of a sick person.
