Black Turnout Soft in Early Voting, Boding Ill for Hillary Clinton
The New York Times ^ | November 1, 2016 | Jeremy Peters,Richard Fausset, & Michael Wines

African-Americans are failing to vote at the robust levels they did four years ago in several states that could help decide the presidential election, creating a vexing problem for Hillary Clinton as she clings to a deteriorating lead over Donald J. Trump with Election Day just a week away.

As tens of millions of Americans cast ballots in what will be the largest-ever mobilization of early voters in a presidential election, the numbers have started to point toward a slump that many Democrats feared might materialize without the nation’s first black president on the ticket.

The reasons for the decline appear to be both political and logistical, with lower voter enthusiasm and newly enacted impediments to voting at play. In North Carolina, where a federal appeals court accused Republicans of an “almost surgical” assault on black turnout and Republican-run election boards curtailed early-voting sites, black turnout is down 16 percent. White turnout, however, is up 15 percent. Democrats are planning an aggressive final push, including a visit by President Obama to the state on Wednesday.

But in Florida, which extended early voting after long lines left some voters waiting for hours in 2012, African-Americans’ share of the electorate that has gone to the polls in person so far has decreased, to 15 percent today from 25 percent four years ago.

The problems for Democrats do not end there. In Ohio, which also cut back its early voting, voter participation in the heavily Democratic areas near Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo has been down, though the Clinton campaign said it was encouraged by a busy day on Sunday when African-American churches led voter drives across the state......[snip]

O’Keefe’s just released video showing a Democrat characterizing blacks in quite an unflattering way isn’t going to help.

BTW, his site is not accessible now. Assume it’s been swamped since Drudge went up with the link.

This is where I think Hillary loses the election. Democrat turnout will be somewhat less than it was in 2008 and 2012 because blacks will be less enthusiastic. But of those blacks who DO turnout, a higher percentage will go Trump.

They wanted the voting period extended in Florida and it backfired. Reminds me of Nick Saban demanding one second be put back on the clock so Alabama could attempt a field goal. It missed and Auburn ran it back for a touchdown.

Agreed, this is where she will lose this election. Sept 20 polling had Trump with 20% of the Black vote which is enormous, historically speaking.

USC Dornsife in the News (more current than August, yet hard to find anything more current)

September 20, 2016

The Washington Post highlighted the USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times Daybreak Poll, which shows Donald Trump with a lead over Hillary Clinton. International Business Times also noted the general results. U.S. News & World Report featured the poll’s finding that 20 percent of black voters are likely to vote for Trump, as did International Business News and Heavy.

Clinton is relying heavily on the uneducated black voters to win.

I’ve been noticing that when they run local news coverage of early voting.

They will interview a black voter who is all fired up for Hillary but if you watch in the background, it’s all whites going in.

Leads me to believe they wait for a black voter to show up before they run the interview.

You mean the Dems are not going to outvote the Repubs by 8-12% like the Podesta polls are showing?

Pray America wakes

There are at least 10+ million Obama voters who have no interest in Hillary whatsoever and won’t bother voting... Then again, you have Republicans who won’t vote for Trump as well. It’s doubtful they will balance out though.

The thought of having a Democrat in the White House for another 4 years, combined with the repugnant thought of having Hillary Clinton in the White House will draw even hard-core Republicans toward Trump. They will bite their tongues and vote.

Hillary selected what they thought was a ‘safe’ predominantly black-folk polling location on Sunday in Pompano Beach. Surprise, she was greeted by Trump-folk.

This is a great photo-statement that appeared in the NYT.

What makes you think the media “wait” for the person to be interviewed?

In my experience, interviews are pre-arranged between an astroturf activist who wants to be interviewed (and pretend true grassroots) and the media who want to look good when it comes time for salary review.

So the Dems burn down a church in Mississippi, scrawl “Vote Trump” on the building, and blame Trump supporters.

Same old, same old.

Gotta get out the vote.

Hopefully Black voters will see through this and realized that they have been suckered for many, many years.
