A last-minute, virtually unknown conservative independent presidential candidate, Evan McMullin, declared his candidacy too late to be considered a credible candidate. This is unfortunate, since he is a cut above the other candidates from either party. However, he is weighed down by voter reaction to his religion: Mormonism. And by his former profession: CIA operations officer.
Voters will immediately and wrongly assume that, like Mitt Romney, being a Mormon is religiously exotic, even bizarre (all that teetotaling, no music or dancing), hurting him in the eyes of the voting proletariat. His earlier employment in the CIA’s clandestine service, with still classified operational details unavailable, also becomes fodder for the anti-secrecy malcontents, adding more opposition to his success.

There were thousands of folks who served during the Vietnam era that were never sent there. Even draftees weren’t certain to be sent there. I guess you could look at it two ways. Right place right time or wrong place wrong time. Some people even requested duty there and didn’t get assigned there. While others served more than one tour there. Notice my enlistment year in the tag line. Didn’t mean that those that weren’t in ‘Nam weren’t in harms way someplace else. Think USS Liberty and Israel. Were the sailors considered killed by friendly fire? Bullets ain’t friendly if you’re on the receiving end.
The whole “conscience saving” ploy of the Mormons to vote for McMullin, is just a means for the GOPe to sabotage Trump.
Unless they are trying to embarrass Trump by voting for McMullin, they may as well just vote for Hillary. If Utah’s six electoral votes causes a 269-269 tie, there is no way a Republican controlled House is going to choose (a Mormon) McMullin. It will be Trump.

I heard a bit of that in the car. Mostly where both of the loons were blabbering about “Trump/Putin/he Russians” - basically the DNC/Hillary talking points.. I don’t know whether these two are just “crazy Mormons” or whether all Mormons are like that.

Yeah worked for CIA..supports arming good rebels to take out Assad. Supports no fly zones. Hmm, he & Hillary sound like they are on the same page there.
