Although I really, really hate to say this, I am forced to understand that discovery is a right afforded to someone being charged by an official entity AND for an official entity BEING sued by an individual.

It’s called pretrial discovery. It’s up to a judge to decide if that information is relevant or not now.

Just my dumbass country boy opinion....

And people wonder why the deplorables are so fired up about Trump.

Trump wants to stop this stuff. He’s talked about it several times.

Is the suit by the Lay Minister because the State says he discriminates by preaching sodomy is evil or that the church doesn’t have the correct bathrooms?

There’s got to be more to this than what is being put on paper to anger the impulsive.

Olens is a conservative and has been a reputable DA/AG up till now.

That’s pathetic. Many/most pastors I know don’t have written sermons, or even notes. They’re not recorded, so there aren’t transcripts. I know my dad and uncles were in this category.

Get Trump in the White House!! He’ll be friendlier toward Christians!

Sounds to me like he already turned over some sermons, which was got him fired in the first place. He’s claiming discrimination by his state that they fired him due to his religious beliefs, which used to be a First Amendment right of American citizens to hold without interference from the government.

Why do they want more sermons since he’s already given them some? Sounds like he wants to know what basis the state fired him - which as well all know, was his over his religious views - probably regarding homosexuality, same-sex marriage, or anything else that is politically incorrect now.

The fascist state is moving in for the kill. The end goal is to eliminate Christianity, by forcing Christians to choose between their religion and their jobs.

Will they do this for muzlims, seeing that muzlims in some countries kill gays for being gay?

Wait they fired him because he preached the bible in church and they had hired him knowing he was a preacher?

The mind boggles...

It would be a shame if a hard-drive failure destroyed all his sermons and notes. A real shame.

Hm, let's compare and contrast -- the GA State Constitution says this in Art 1, Sec 1:
Paragraph III. Freedom of conscience.
Each person has the natural and inalienable right to worship God, each according to the dictates of that person's own conscience; and no human authority should, in any case, control or interfere with such right of conscience.

Paragraph IV. Religious opinions; freedom of religion.
No inhabitant of this state shall be molested in person or property or be prohibited from holding any public office or trust on account of religious opinions; but the right of freedom of religion shall not be so construed as to excuse acts of licentiousness or justify practices inconsistent with the peace and safety of the state.

Paragraph V. Freedom of speech and of the press guaranteed.
No law shall be passed to curtail or restrain the freedom of speech or of the press. Every person may speak, write, and publish sentiments on all subjects but shall be responsible for the abuse of that liberty.

All this begs the question: By what legal authority can an officer of the State of Georgia demand this?

“Walsh, a Seventh-day Adventist lay minister had been hired in May 2014 by as a District Health Director with the Georgia Department of Public Health. A week later, a government official asked him to submit copies of his sermons for review. He complied and two days later he was fired.”

The companies I worked for posted Federal regulations regarding equal employment opportunities where everyone could see them, as I believe all companies must do. Those regulations forbade discrimination for a number of reasons including gender, race and religion. Firing the lay preacher for his religious principles seems a clear violation of those laws. I would just love to see the state fire a muslim imam for voicing his convictions.
