CINCINNATI -- Hamilton County voters arent as eager to turn in their ballots so far this presidential election year.
With two weeks to go before Election Day, early voting is lower than it has been in the last two presidential election cycles.
As of Tuesday morning, 37,644 people had voted early in Hamilton County which is 17,949 fewer ballots than were cast at this point in the 2012 election.
And fewer people have requested absentee ballots so far 6,000 fewer ballots this year than in 2012, and 1,600 fewer than 2008, according to Hamilton County elections data.
That's Hamilton County, but then there's Butler County:
Republicans arent staying home in GOP stronghold Butler County, Trump needs to have historic voter turnout if he has a shot of winning Ohio.
The county is bucking the statewide trend: Absentee voting is up 9 percent over the same period during the 2012 presidential election and up 21 percent from 2008, according to Tuesdays data.
In-person early voting is also 3 percent higher so far in Butler County from the same point in 2012 this despite having early voting open eight days later in 2016.
At the same time, Butler County, the GOP stronghold that neighbors Hamilton County (and the home of John Boehner) has seen a significant in absentee and early voting.
Taken together, these bits are good news.
Really. How long has the author been a psychic?
Good news!
I’m expecting a 20% reduction in turnout among Democrats. Young people and blacks aren’t going to show up like they did for Obama.
As long as Republicans ignore the MSM and actually VOTE we will win this thing!
Unscientific, I know, but I am a Butler County resident, and I’d estimate Trump-Pence signs outnumber Clinton-Kaine signs 10-1 easily.
The most entertaining was when a neighbor put up a small Trump-Pence sign, then the next day the guy next door to him put up a small Clinton sign. The day after the first guy put up a Trump-Pence sign that measures about 6ft. x 4ft. Funny stuff!
We did our part - took our voting age son with us to vote in Butler county last week. Urging others to also, free us up to be poll watchers on voting day.
“As long as Republicans ignore the MSM and actually VOTE we will win this thing!”
Any idea how the erstwhile TDS FReaks are planning to vote?
Guessing Ben Gleck is their biggest hero right now.
I know one young millennial in Hamilton County who voted yesterday, and she went for Trump. Really surprised me. Her husband is dead set against both Trump and Hillary.
I have my absentee ballot and will mail it shortly. IT will be another Trump vote.
God do I hate these poorly-written, hacktastic folksy cold opens that make all sorts of unsupported claims and assumptions.
Absent any contradictory data, one could just as easily say that early voting will be down all the way to Nov 8 - eagerness or other subjective emotions have nothing to do with it.
One could also say that the number of early ballots issued was smaller thus the return will be smaller as a percentage or as a whole.
Lazy, lazy, lazy. Today's media.
We are putting up a sign today, though I know it will greatly upset our die-hard D neighbor (he openly celebrated, lots of noise, when Bill was not convicted by the Senate).
Ohio PING!!

Thanks, TonyInOhio
You’re a great American.
This seems to be a GENERAL RULE and not just in Ohio.
Anybody know why?
Hamilton County is Democratic these days. Look at the ring counties, Butler, Warren, Clinton - I see Trump signs everywhere.
I kind of wonder if the “rigged election” meme of Trump’s doesn’t actually suppress legitimate Democrat voters and motivate Republican and Conservative voters.
Down deep, most Democrats have to know their party cheats like crazy. It can’t be morally uplifting to hear a major candidate call it out early and often.
They are
1). lazy and have to be dragged and egged on to go to the polls by the more motivated crazies in the DNC
2). They are not traditionalists like most of us, so they don’t mind voting early instead of the traditional and really only right day to vote.
3). A lot is probably fraudulent and is spread out over the early voting period.
just my 2 cents.
They just push early voting constantly. We are now keeping up with them.
Really good news. Ohio and Iowa look like the best swing states for Trump. Florida is trending his way, too. In fact, I think that things are definitely swinging in his favor. Hillary’s neverending e-mail/Wikileaks scandal and the Obamacare disaster will likely weigh her down even more.
No, liberal projection again.
We conservatives vote at the booth.
The early voting was for 0bama; lower absentee and early means bad turnout for Hitlery. Quote me on that.
Here in Cincy, we’re delivering Trump. Only in the liberal city nooks and crannies are Hitlery signs. Those on the university dole and such. I travel around Cincy a lot; there are a lot of brave Trump voters with signs; most don’t put up signs and we don’t answer polls.
Vote on election day. Landslide.
They need to be more careful with their fraud now that the Project Veritas videos are out and Trump is making the media talk about it.
All I’ve heard in the last 30 years since I started paying attention to politics is: “You can’t get into the White House without winning Ohio.” In the last few weeks, suddenly it’s okay if Hillary doesn’t win Ohio, because she’s going to “CRUSH” Trump. Progressives are pathetic!
