Justin wrote about the hostile reception to Speaker Of The House Paul Ryan from Trump supporters at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Chants of Paul Ryan sucks were shouted, but is this an isolated incident? That is, is this just a representation of Trump supporters from the local area? Nonot really. The latest polling shows that support for Ryan has collapsed, sinking 28 points in a week. The YouGov poll had some interesting points concerning Ryan, Trump, and the brewing tensions that seem bound to erupt in civil war once this election is over.
Allahpundit noted that Ryan is experiencing the Ted Cruz treatment from his own side by refusing to campaign with Trump, though he hasnt yanked his endorsement, which rightfully leaves some people wondering why this late in the game would anyone just stop supporting Trump. For starters, the Access Hollywood tape isnt a deal breaker with many Republican voters, but it is one with almost a quarter of independents, who Trump needs to win over in order to win this election. Another interesting find in the crosstabs about Ryan is that most Republicans, despite their increasing dislike of him, view him as the leader of the GOP, not Trump:

It’s a House seat. There are hundreds of them. You never want to “lose” but this could easily be addition by subtraction.
After all, what message does it send if we keep railing against them and then reelecting them?
Well said, you speak for millions of us deplorables!
“...We will walk through the gates of Hell itself...”
Indeed.
These GOP-E P*sssies have ZERO clue as to the beast they’ve enraged.
A purging is in order, indeed. It’s coming.
Also, Ryan doesn’t represent Green Bay. If he did, they would be subservient.
good. please wisconsin, do what you have to do to remove this traitor. imo, it’s vital for the future of Trump and America.
In my opinion, if Trump wins the House will elect a new speaker. The Republican rebels will have the influence to out him. This is like the 1860 election in that way.
Ryan has banked it all on Trump losing. Should Trump win, Ryan’s only future is if he fails once in office. The Republicans will see that as easily as I do, and remove him, knowing that they cannot let Trump fail as their personal futures will depend on them helping him succeed.
sorry bro FReeper. but, i categorically reject every single point underpinning your argument.
for example, your assertion that there are gop rebels. there is no evidence whatsoever that there are any gop rebels. michele bachmann was the closest thing we had to a gop rebel in congress in the last 8 years and she was hamstrung and ultimately shutdown by the uniparty.
if Trump is elected as basically an independent, and i think he will be, he’ll have to deal from strength with a hostile uniparty congress. anything that weakens the uniparty, strengthens Trump. let’s hope he’s up to it.
RE “Walk through the gates of Hell” to support Trump.
Well, if we have to go through hell, let’s do it at full speed, and as they said in “Animal House”, “RAMMING SPEED”.
That’s the difference between Trump and Ryan. Trump forges right ahead just like Patton while Ryan snail crawls like Bradley did about blazing down the road to Rome, which, IF IT HAD HAPPENED, would have shortened the war by many months. Instead, his long hesitation cost many American lives.
Trump may not be a Patton, but he’s the closet person we’ve got to him, and while he may be the man in the turret setting the tone and giving directions, it is the good men below driving the tank and manning the guns that make it all happen. THAT IS US!!
CHARGE!
If Trump actually pulls off a win, there will be plenty of “rebels” ready to take out Ryan. Victory has many fathers, defeat is an orphan. Many Republicans will side with the Democrats to “Jesse Ventura” him, but there will be enough that will look at the vote-getting power of a winning president and decisde that’s where they should place their chips. Ryan won’t survive that.
again, i don’t have a crystal ball about what’s going to happen to ryan if he keeps his seat. history proves it’s really hard to get rid of these people. look how long boehner lasted and we knew he was a traitor in the lameduck of 2010. i just don’t see any factual or historical evidence for gop “rebels.” the election of 2010 should have brought out the “rebels” if they existed under your terms (victory has many fathers).
on the other hand, however, there is abundant evidence that the whole gop power structure hates Trump and we the people. imo, no election will change that, because that has been the history of the gop (e.g., Reagan being replaced by bush). Trump’s power base will be his own ability to “deal” with all comers and we the people acting as the stick, not d.c. thus we need to prove early and often that we can be an effective stick. thus ryan as a power hungry, two-face, backstabbing, proven enemy of Trump needs to go.
well you can have the last word if you want. going to bed.
Paulie needs to check himself into a witness protection plan....He needs a new identity, a new job, a new (cheaper) home, and new friends. His life, as it is, ain’t worth a plug nickel.
Finally got around to looking at this.
Wow!

No wonder Trump had trouble there during the primary. Paul Ryan leads the GOP? Off in their own planet.
You weren’t listening. Levin has always been an honest broker bound by principle, period.
“Levin deserves some ripping”, for what exactly? Anyone who listened to Levin’s critiques, OR Cruz’ for that matter, always knew that they would oppose Hillary and support Trump. But they were tagged as “NeverTrumpers” here, with no basis, IMO.
For supporting the ineligible Cubanadian®.
Whatever. Old argument. Yeah, that guy who defends our Constitution better than anyone else. Terrible guy.
Yes. "Old" and correct.
that guy who defends our Constitution better than anyone else.
If he's so Constitutionally savvy, he shouldn't have been trying to install a non-citizen as president.
I’ve looked into the arguments about “natural born” and frankly, I think they are bizarre. Ted’s mom was AMERICAN. Think as you wish, however. Let’s get Trump across the finish line now. The American experiment will be dead if Rotten wins or steals the election, and the Constitution won’t be worth toilet paper.
Oh well then...that settles it. The Supreme arbiter of ALL matters, legal, philosophical and religious, alstewartfan has spoken. No more proof is needed.
Teds mom was AMERICAN.
SO WHAT? All Canadians are Americans...so are all Cubans, Mexicans, Brazilians etc.
If she didn't declare him to be a US CITIZEN shortly after his birth (apply for a CRBA)....then he's a Canuk.
I'm waiting to see that document.
