Leave it to New Zealand’s greatest opera singer to give it a proper performance in this 1994 recording. You can actually understand the words! Catch the tuba in the arrangement. It’s not necessary, but it adds an authentic touch to the proceedings.

This song was cut from “Paris” and replaced with “Let’s Do It, Let’s Fall in Love.” But it developed a life of its own apart from the show. Woody Allen used this 1928 recording as the opening of “Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex” in 1973.

Hiya, Connie...hope things are cooling off some for you.

Nights are into the 20s now, but not the days. Maybe a flake or 2 of the white stuff next week, but it’s not cold enough to stick.

My weekend plans changed some as I was up all night sick and couldn’t make it to work. Trying to get some sleep today, but not doing very well.

This is from 2005's “De-Lovely,” that fatally flawed biopic of Porter. Costello gives it a magnificent performance, to include a tuba, just like a genuine Twenties dance band. Someone does a fine imitation of Stephan Grapelli in the instrumental interlude in the middle.
