YOU'RE THE ONE
Les tells the story proudly now, with an ending that few would have ever predicted when he was in high school. He remembers the turning point as though it were yesterday. Just a chance encounter and an offhand comment... but it changed his life forever. He had slipped quietly into the back of a classroom to wait for a friend that day. The last thing he wanted was to be noticed, but the teacher asked him to go to the board and work out a problem. Les pointed out that he wasn't a student in that class. "It doesn't matter," said Mr Washington, the teacher. "Go do it anyway." Les protested that he couldn't. Somewhat embarrassed, he added, "Because I'm 'Educable Mentally Retarded'." At that point, the teacher came out from behind his desk, looked at the embarrassed teenager and challenged him, "Don't ever say that again. Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality". The students laughed, of course, but Les didn't really mind so much. In a way, it was as though the teacher's comment had set him free. Someone had looked at him and seen possibilities. Les had never dared hope for that before. Perhaps he COULD move beyond the limits others had placed on him. Today, Les explains his awakening with the words of Goethe: "Look at a man the way that he is, he only becomes worse. But look at him as if he were what he could be, and then he becomes what he should be". That's how Mr. Washington became Les's mentor, and a constant source of inspiration. While still a junior, Les heard something Mr. Washington told some graduating seniors. "You have greatness within you. If just one of you can get a glimpse of a larger vision of yourself, of who you really are, the world will never be the same again. You can touch millions of people's lives." The amazing thing is that Les Brown did indeed go on to realize his dream. He has since produced a number of specials that have been shown on public television. As his old mentor had once predicted, once he found that "larger glimpse of himself," Les was able to "touch the lives of millions". The Bible's message is quite different. It reminds us that each person is created in God's image, with unique gifts and potential. No one else can make our contribution...or take advantage of our opportunities...or affect the world in just our way. Who knows the difference YOU might make if you were to discover that larger vision? May you discover that vision.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

Gods Reminders
October 2, 2016
He said to them, Do you still not understand?
Mark 8:21
My friend Bob Horner refers to Jesus as the Master Reminder. And that is good, because we are so doubting and forgetful. No matter how often Jesus met the needs of the people who came to Him when He was here on earth, His first disciples feared they would somehow be left in need. After witnessing miracles, they failed to understand the greater meaning the Lord wanted them to remember.
On a journey across the Sea of Galilee, the disciples realized they had forgotten to bring bread and were talking about it. Jesus asked them, Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And dont you remember? (Mark 8:1718). Then He reminded them that when He fed five thousand people with five loaves, the disciples had collected twelve basketfuls of leftover pieces. And when He fed four thousand with seven loaves, they filled seven baskets with leftovers. Then He said to them, Do you still not understand? (v. 21).
The Lords miraculous provision for peoples physical needs pointed to the greater truththat He was the Bread of Life and that His body would be broken for them and for us.
Every time we eat the bread and drink the cup during the Lord's Supper, we are reminded of our Lords great love and provision for us.
In the Lord's Supper, Jesus left us a great reminder of His sacrifice. Read about it in Matthew 26:1730; Luke 22:1420; 1 Corinthians 11:2326.
Communion is the Lords reminder to us of His love and provision.
In Mark 78, Mark records three stories that highlight Jesuss ability to meet the needs of His followers: the exorcism of a demon-possessed girl (Mark 7:2430), the healing of a deaf and mute man (7:3137), and the feeding of four thousand people with seven simple loaves of bread (8:110). Mark tells these three stories in quick succession, underscoring Jesuss ability to meet the needs of people in a variety of situations. The apostle John calls the miracles Jesus performed signs. Like all signs, they point to something. In the case of Jesuss miracles, they point to His true identity.

I saw this today in my monthly devotional, and it just ministered to me. I’m happy to share it with you all.
I’ve been thinking of putting it on parchment paper and framing it for my neighbors where I live .. I love having things like this around my house - in every room, to constantly remind me of my Covenant with GOD.
