Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, and we await the long anticipated sharp turn northward. Jamaica is completing final storm preparations. All interests in the Eastern U.S. and Bahamas should be carefully watching the track of Mighty Matthew.
Ripped straight from the NHC Discussion page:
Matthew remains south of a low-to mid-level ridge over
the western Atlantic. The dynamical models forecast this ridge to
weaken over the next 72 hours as a mid- to upper-level trough develops
over the Gulf of Mexico. This evolution should cause Matthew to turn
northwestward after 24 hours and northward by 48-72 hours. The guidance
generally agrees with this scenario. However, there is a spread between
the GFS forecast of landfall in Jamaica and eastern Cuba and the ECMWF
forecast landfall in southwestern Haiti. The guidance becomes more
divergent after 72 hours.

LOL—very funny!
Christie will make a joint appearance to thank Hillary.
I just found that Cape Canaveral hospital was evacuating to Holmes and somewhere else. I would read that to be that if she is at Holmes she will probably be staying put. Hope that helps. It would be great if she didn’t have to get moved after such major surgery.
Xzins has a daughter NW of Savannah, not me. Ping to Xzins.
Are you powering the entire neighborhood?
Niece, but close enough. :?)
Hillary will be there ASAP....but Louisiana flood victims....no where to be found. Guess its too hot for pant suits in LA. Scum.
That’s pine forest. There will be pine trees blown down as far as you can see. Roads WILL be blocked. It will take a few days to clear all the blow downs.
Fill the bathtub. Then, all you need is a 1-gallon bucket to "flush" the toilet.
Use your other containers to store drinking water.
One last thing: before the weather gets there (if it continues on a track likely to cause disruption in her area), I’d say take a nice, long, hot shower and savor every minute because it might be a while before she feels that clean again. Sink baths with cold water just don’t quite do the trick. After a week or more, she’ll feel pretty gross.
Evacuation traffic update on HWY 70 Westbound circa Highlands County—bumper to bumper. Stop. Go. Stop.

You got that right!

Thanks
All info passed on to niece. Thanks to all of you
Talked with customers in W. Palm this morning and that shutting down for however long. Told me gas stations were out of gas. People in Port St. Lucie were in mile long lines trying to get sandbags.
Me, I headed to the liquor store! :)
The things we take for granted. It almost seems miraculous after a week or two, just to take a hot shower, doesn’t it?
8 meters? 25ish feet...that’s huge
Cannot buy water in Seminole County.
We’re starting 12 hour shifts at my hospital tonight..12 on, 12 off on site..no one will be going home for awhile.
