El Cajon, California (CNN)Activists dismayed by the police killing of an unarmed, possibly mentally ill black man in El Cajon, California, demanded Wednesday that authorities release video of the shooting. They also want a federal probe into the man's death. Police have not released the man's name.
As of Wednesday afternoon, police had released little information about the incident, aside from a still photograph showing the African-American man, in what authorities describe as a "shooting stance," facing off with two officers in a parking lot.

One reason not to release ANY video or film right off is so that witness statements can be collected first — and not be influenced by what they have seen on TV.

When I zoom in, it gets blurry. But——
Looks like a handgun to me. The barrel is above and extending forward of his fists which are clenched on the stock, in firing position. Aimed right at the black cop’s head.

I lived in CA for over a decade, and in police code, a “51-50” means a possible psychiatric situation; the subject is “a danger to himself or to others.”
This usually means the 911 caller felt endangered and called for protection. So the cops immediately know they might be endangered, too.
Seems like, IIRC, 51-50s used to require backups from trained mental health personnel. They’d be prepared with trancs and a straitjacket.
But they’re saying this guy had epilepsy? And cops were called? Doesn’t add up. Should have called for paramedics, not cops.
You have to die in the act to earn a Darwin Award, so they are all posthumous.
One can earn an “honorable mention” in the Darwin Award competition by surviving one’s stupid act.

Ummm not so much these days. Nephew bought an old 80 year old Craftsman in El Cajon last year. First house straight out of the Marines. Neighborhood has been kept up fairly well, but a mile away the Commerce part of town is looking very seedy, even he said as much.
He looks like a beatnik.
What I noticed when I expanded the picture, was that the deceased had a hairdo like Mr. T, though it was unclear what he may or may not have had in his hand.
If you're white, those are tennis shoes. If you're black, that's a book.

Btw, where do all these rioters, gangs and anarchist live? I ask because every time there is a riot is some town, some people claim their all bused in. Where do all these rioters live?☺

Actually, I believe the ‘hands up ...don’t shoot crowd’ recommends this as the posture to assume when confronted by law enforcement.
In a real-life gun fight, you have less than a millisecond to decide to fire your weapon or risk being shot.....been there, done that.
