They wrote that in a fair and just world, there would be no pets at all, no fields full of sheep, and no barns full of pigs, cows and egg-laying hens. There would be no aquaria and no zoos.
If animals matter morally, we must recalibrate all aspects of our relationship with them. The issue we must confront is not whether our exploitation of them is humane with all of the concomitant tinkering with the practices of animal-use industries but rather whether we can justify using them at all, they concluded.

I have a question about animals:
If these people who ‘care’ about pets, where is PETA on the cow farts bill in California???
What are these cows suppose to do when they burp or fart? Isn’t that considered a ‘bodily function’ and if that is good enough for cows, then how about every time ‘Moonbeam’ farts and burps have him incarnated....
And there would be no animals. If you can't keep as pets or use them for food...why have them?
I would suggest this moron of a professor become a vegan...
Vegan die much younger....
What a nut case.

Tried to recalibrate my relationship with my wife’s lab - he got pissed because I was disturbing his nap.
BTW, “A Man and His Dogs” with Martin Clunes is on Netflix. I highly recommend it and the other animal specials with Clunes on Netflix.
“Man & Beast” is another of his not to miss.
But I’ll just bet that this doofus has NO moral qualms about abortion and the selling of baby body parts!
Pretty soon libs will be demanding the right to vote for the animals.
“Dogs have masters, cats have staff.”
Rutgers used to have a very good science dept. My first boyfriend worked there on weekends. This guy is pathetic.
Yes, let’s empty out all the shelters and let those animals fend for themselves. Hope they bite this guy’s ass off.
My 16 pound Jack Russel takes up a huge part of my bed. Do I have to give it all to him?
Keeping animals as pets, hunting and raising them for food, is 100% completely in keeping with our nature and our place in the natural world. Bullfights and circuses are not.
Perhaps his real problem is with: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
Lawyers enforce economic slavery.
So said as my cat sleeps, purring on my lap. She became a house cat just after a family of Bald Eagles moved in. Otherwise, she would not have been a pet, she would have been lunch.
Our pampered cats disagree.
*****And there would be no animals****
Seems to me that humans reduced the predators (wolves, bears etc.,) who would have decimated these vegetarian creatures.
By domesticating, breeding, feeding and protecting them, the human race saved them.
God had all this planned, or it would not be.
That isn’t what they are after. They prefer a world without humans.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Sorry Prof. You’ve been overruled. Now go on back to your safe space.
