Lester's a Republican? He'd have to be a liberal one. I can't see NBC having a conservative Republican do their nightly news. I rarely see their nightly news, although I do see bias of NBC news, CBS, and ABC pointed out on Newsbusters. However, MSNBC is obviously very liberal. The reporters covering Trump and politics for NBC seem liberal if you read their Twitter accounts.

I think that Trump may be right, and after what liberals decided was a fiasco with Matt Lauer, Holt will feel he has to be extra tough on him. NBC wouldn't be able to stand it if people think they were too easy on Trump twice.

For the record, that would still make 2/3 debates hosted by Democrats or 3/4 moderators. I'm not sure about the VP debate.

Isn’t there a website that lists contributions made to candidates in every election by contributors?

I seem to remember there is one, but not what the URL is. Would be interesting to look up Holt...

Jeb Bush is also a Republican.

It’s a trivial distinction in Washington DC, anyway.

Just because he’s registered as GOP doesn’t mean he’s not a commie. Duh!

Uh oh. I was afraid of something like this. We`re talking about a major gaffe here by Trump. Wrongly refering to Lester Holt as a Democrat. This has the potential to sink his campaign. /s

“Registered Republican” means nothing. So are Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, Richard Hanna, Susan Collins, and a number of others who are doing all they can to bring down the person Republican voters freely chose to be their Presidential candidate.

Lester Holt is a Republican like I'm a large black man. NOT!

Next they'll be telling us that Holt is straight and white, too. Jam Lester's Holt up your fetid canyons, you venereal stinkbags!

Will Lester Holt come clean on TV and tell the world he DIDN’T vote for Obama?

I doubt it.

He’s a Colin Powell R if anything.

Probably a token in the newsroom to boost up the R’ reporter quota...

I don’t watch NBC a lot these days, but I’ve always liked Lester because I never felt any bias coming from him. It doesn’t surprise me that he is registered R, and that’s the beauty of Lester....you’d never know. It’s the way they’re all supposed to be. I think this is a gaff by Trump and I hope he corrects himself. I trust Lester more than Wallace!

He’s a Democrat, whatever his party registration may be (and in New York, you presently have EIGHT (1) choices.)

New York Republicans:

Jacob Javits
Nelson Rockefeller
George Pataki
(too many others to list here.)

The NYGOP may as well be Democrats. That’s why the Conservative Party exists.

I once heard Lester say he grew up in a military family, which may be why he doesn’t seem as hideous as Brokaw, Couric or Andrea Mitchell, but I would have a hard time believing a CONSERVATIVE republican would ever ascend to the job he holds.

He’s a Democrat who has registered Republican because he knows his vote is pretty much ineffectual in the solid blue state. What he can do with his Red vote is work to make sure no real conservative makes it through the primaries. I’m pretty sure there are a lot like that.

A registered Republican that votes for Democrats exclusively. There are many within the ranks. In Lester’s case it is to make him look like a Republican that can never quite find that Republican he can support, which in turn lends more credence to his being impartial as a journalist.
