CLAIM: Hillary Clinton and/or members of her 2008 presidential campaign started the "birther" movement questioning whether Barack Obama was born in the U.S.
FALSE ORIGIN:On 16 September 2016, after years of being the most visible and outspoken exponent of "birtherism" the notion that, despite all evidence to the contrary, Barack Obama was born outside the U.S. and thus his presidency is illegitimate and his allegiances suspect GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump stepped up to the podium at a televised campaign event and completely reversed his stance on the matter but not before trying to lay blame for the long, drawn-out smear campaign on someone else.

Whatever network you choose the ‘Trump started it’ is THE mantra.
I’ve changed to 3 channels this morning and it’s the same..blah blah blah.
Hey FARS! Snopes has tracked you down and says this ‘birther’ stuff is all your fault!
“The likeliest point of origin we’ve been able to find was a post on conservative message board FreeRepublic.com dated 1 March 2008 (which, according to a report in The Telegraph, was at least a month before Clinton supporters got on the e-mail bandwagon):
“after years of being the most visible and outspoken exponent of “birtherism” “
Anybody who knows about this issue knows who, no doubt about it, by a landslide, was “the most visible and outspoken exponent of “birtherism” was Orly Taitz.
I would change the word “exponent” to something more like “investigator”.
Should end use of snopes by any Freeper. The history of snopes is quite liberal.
ah yes...the guy uses a paragraph here and there to claim ILLary’s 2008 campaign did not start the birther issue yet he offers no evidence who did... mcclatchy yesterday:
Welcome to the new Soviet, my FRiend. You can choose Pravda or Izvestia!
In other news Hillary leads in the polls by ten percentage points!
According to the
"rumors that Obama, well known to Chicagoans as a Christian, is actually a stealth Muslim, a "Manchurian candidate" who would take the presidential oath with his hand on the Koran.
The rumors first surfaced during Obama's run for Senate but took off in a viral e-mail campaign in 2006. One e-mail called Obama "The Enemy Within." GOP strategist Ed Rogers also pointedly mentioned Obama's middle name, Hussein. In January, the Obama campaign was forced to denounce Fox News for repeating a false Insight magazine report that he had spent fours years in an Indonesian madrasa, an Islamic school.
Though CNN sent out a reporter who found that the school Obama had attended had nothing in common with the Pakistani incubators for jihadists, and though his campaign has set the record straight repeatedly, last week the Washington Post ran a front-page story about Obama's "Muslim ties."
Consider also, in November 7, 2006, incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton easily won a second term representing New York in the United States Senate, establishing her own political vita in preparation for seeking a run at the 2008 POTUS election. The Clinton machine had to be privy to whispers about Obama's potential as a competitive running mate. Hence, timing of this release:
"JOHN GIBSON, HOST: The gloves are off: Hillary Clinton is reported to be already digging up the dirt on Barack Obama.
The New York senator has reportedly outed Obama's madrassa past. That's right, the Clinton team is reported to have pulled out all the stops to reveal something Obama would rather you didn't know: that he was educated in a Muslim madrassa.
I still have had long time Freepers try to use it as a valid source. Laughable at the least! Trolls most likely.
Why anyone would believe that snopes is some fountain of truth is beyond stupid.
Agree or to lazy to research.
So who has vetted Snopes and decided they are the arbiters of what’s right and wrong?
What will the blaming be like in a couple of years when the records are released finally?
Hussein himself claimed he was born in Kenya in that book.
Why are being defensive about it? That the Left proclaims the truth is not to be accepted or their lies to be questioned does not change the nature of the truth or of the lies.
Free Republic.com. Snopes is a Left wing organization. It is the cause, not the truth, that matters.
It wasn’t “doctored.” It was wholly forged. It was created out of something else.
I found Texasdarlin's blog and the PUMA people and worked with them before I found FreeRepublic. They were hardcore pushing this story and research.
FreeRepublic had nothing to do with what they were doing until later in the process when info. started being shared. It was absolutely the Clinton supporters that started the Birther movement.
Jim should sue.
“And nobody knows what he claimed on his college and law school applications.)”
...and said little manure pile runs for the highest office in the land and wins?
WTH does that say about the country, and the people who made it happen?
It’s FARS fault! Cheers!
LOL, this is priceless. FR beat Hellary to the punch.
Not so fair and balanced FOX was still blaming Trump early this morning. Accidentally surfed onto it so quickly clicked off.
