“Teens also “overwhelmingly” preferred earning money through a normal job, according to the study, but job prospects were scarce in their neighborhoods, especially as employers continue to emphasize past work experience.”

let’s keep jacking up the minimum wage....if they can’t get started int eh job market, then they will be government dependent (democrat) for their whole lives

I don’t know about teens, but I have seen younger children suffer nutritionally in this country, almost always because of neglect by alcoholic or drug-addicted parents.

There’s free food everywhere. Enormous, sickening amounts of it go to waste. Its criminally negligent (or sometimes mentally ill, mentally disabled parents) who fail to get or prepare the food which is all around them in abundance -— and the helpless kids suffer.

Urban Institute study.

Saw this stopped reading. Pure made up BS from the usual collection of poverty pimps and race baiters.

I don’t know where they are hiding all those starving children. Anyone been to WalMart lately?

Yeah, this doesn't pass the smell test to me.

We got these so-called "food deserts" in the town where I live. I volunteer to work with kids from some of these families. Invariably the kitchen shelves are stuffed with food.

The kind of pre-packaged stuff I wouldn't buy, but food.

The MSM is beginning to conclude that Trump is going to be the next President. In the media, homelessness and starvation only occur in GOP administrations. They are setting the stage for the reintroduction of these issues.

Agreed. Same goes with TV commercials claiming 1 in 4 American children go hungry each day. What???

I suppose any family that is living paycheck-to-paycheck could be considered in a “food could run out” category. Although that’s very different than “starving”.

Between government programs, soup kitchens, etc. - I have a hard time believing this.

What about small children with abusive or neglective parents?

They’re not going to drive to a shelter, pantry or soup kitchen. The food they get at school is all they get for some of these children.
