Why is it surprising that the presidential candidate kept working even while ill? Women do it every day
As the cover of nearly every newspaper and news site in America made abundantly clear Monday morning, Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate for president of the United States, cut short her appearance at 9/11 memorial ceremony on Sunday and later disclosed that shed been diagnosed on Friday with pneumonia. In a more normal world and in a more normal year, that information might receive a public round of supportive get well wishes, and then wed move on. But these, as we are painfully aware, are not normal times.
Clintons health has been a front and center topic of public speculation and armchair diagnoses for several months now, all couched in the vague concern about whether this woman this woman with actual political experience and knowledge is less qualified to run the country than her Twitter-troll reality-show-star opponent. Its a popular old ploy: Ladies, arent you too weak to do this stuff? Why dont you just sit down and have a lemonade and leave the heavy lifting of running the world to the menfolk, dear? To which I say: You have got to be kidding me.
Powering through is what women do.

What a puff piece.
I am surprised it took this long. âLook up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane! No, It’s Superwoman Hillary. look at her power through that nasty pneumonia bacteria! what a gal. She didn’t even want us to know, cause she aint looking for cheap pity points. She is doing it for us, the little people. With one lung tied behind her back she will defeat the deplorables!
Hillary is Supergirl.
“Women do it every day “
MEN have been doing it for thousands of years otherwise women would be dead.
Just powering through the campaign trail
Guys just die in the hundreds of millions in War.
You should really talk to people from India who have arrived in the USA for the first time. Your last sentence is absolutely the way they think of Americans. What’s funny is that as soon as they step off of the plane, they want to know where the nearest liquor store is.
I has pneumonia a couple of years ago, I got it confirmed and call my boss to tell him that I would be out for a couple of weeks and why. I was sure that I would lose that job. Instead he called back and thanked me for not coming in and spreading it though the entire department.
I actually got four extra months on that job which was unheard of for a temp job with that company.
I dont believe her diagnosis.”
Neither do I. I have had pneumonia and seen cases of it during my military tour. There is no way in hell you can be almost catatonic then 1.5-2 hrs later be all perky and prancing to a waiting car. Even if you get pumped up with IV fluids and coke. She is sick that is a given but pneumonia? I doubt that unless the speculations that it was a double are true.
I just noticed the same thing. Must be Son of Journ-o-list.
Power thru the bull$hit.
If that is what women do then that is why women should not be Presidents.
Her main disease isn’t “dumbass.” That is just one of the complications.
I guess it wasn't a collapse if she didn't fall to the street under the van.
She punishes people ON SCHEDULE?
What a wagon load of steaming B.S.!!
Shrillary hasn’t “powered through” anything, she has had an incredibly light campaign schedule all year long.
She wasn’t “powering through” to go to a 9/11 memorial and she did not merely “depart early” she frickin’ COLLAPSED in front of her van and had to be lifted-shoved into the van like a side of beef.
Powering through pneumonia is what people who make poor decisions do.
Salon. ‘Nuff said.
