At a recent stop in Worcester, Massachusetts, this week, Kiss brought its roadie for the day onstage, along with other members of the military past and present, and led the entire arena in the Pledge of Allegiance, something the band has done before. However, this one had a bit of a special message to a particular NFL player -- a not-so-subtle knock to the recent shenanigans by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, lead singer Paul Stanley said:
You should remember, patriotism is always cool. Loving your country is always cool. Standing up, respecting and honoring our military is always cool. So, to show some respect between pick-throwing, were going to put our right hands over our hearts and why dont we say the Pledge of Allegiance.

I always liked Kiss; now I like them even more.
They recite the Pledge every show this tour. This is a gimmick for their current tour called “Freedom to Rock Tour”. I don’t believe the Pledge belongs at a rock concert.
Fantastic.
Whatever.
Then, don’t go to a Kiss concert.
Perhaps you would prefer a Dixie Chicks concert. Pretty sure you won’t hear it there.
I see nothing wrong with the Pledge being said at ball games, rock/country or even Polka concerts. It’s said at races, some churches, some schools - I have no problem having it said at any gathering. If you don’t want to say it; stand respectfully and remain silent.
Disrespect the pledge, and expect to be disrespected in return.
At least they are doing the right thing now.
I do, and kudos to them for doing it.
The schools are teaching them. Let a rock band do it.
Someone needs to.
It’s cool to respect your nation! They influence a lot of people, and in this instance for the better.
I was doing ok until the crowd began shouting “USA!”
Wow. Powerful...
THEY ARE A CLASS ACT!
“I dont believe the Pledge belongs at a rock concert.”
Why? It may be the first time since grade school some of the audience members have placed their hands on their hearts and recited the pledge.
Do you find that offensive?
hey hollywierd and nfl take advantage of their status to do politics, so let Kiss do it too.
“This is a gimmick”
Works for me.
Or maybe their current tour title is all about freedom since apparently they have been supporting the military for quite some time. NOT JUST on this tour.
Did you even watch the video and read the entire piece?
Thank you God for making me watch Kiss 5 live times in my life, one less than Metallica.
They are playing b-markets on this tour. This is just a gimmick for them. They haven’t sold out one show. They are from NYC, and they don’t have once date in the NYC tri-state area. The patriotism is just a gimmick for them.
"Kiss has included patriotism and tributes to the U.S. military and veterans for years as well. I've found clips on YouTube dating back as far as 2004 in which Stanley and the rest of the band show their love for the red, white, and blue and the men and women who have fought to defend it."
Consider your tour gimmick theory thoroughly debunked. Not to mention a tad offensive to some of us who read the piece in full.
Is ten years ago too early for a tour gimmick?
