At a recent stop in Worcester, Massachusetts, this week, Kiss brought its roadie for the day onstage, along with other members of the military past and present, and led the entire arena in the Pledge of Allegiance, something the band has done before. However, this one had a bit of a special message to a particular NFL player -- a not-so-subtle knock to the recent shenanigans by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, lead singer Paul Stanley said:
“You should remember, patriotism is always cool. Loving your country is always cool. Standing up, respecting and honoring our military is always cool. So, to show some respect between pick-throwing, we’re going to put our right hands over our hearts and why don’t we say the Pledge of Allegiance.”

Yep, the guys in KISS have a lot of faults, but they have been consistent in their love of country and the military.

It’s no “gimmick”.
Gene Simmon’s mother is a Concentration camp survivor. He and Paul Stanley are extremely Patriotic Americans, and they do a lot for veterans groups and other Pro-American organizations.
Good on them for doing this.

It’s for the tour, which is called “Freedom to Rock.” They are taking advantage of the post-9/11 America. It’s a way to get middle America to see them live. They are only playing b-markets on this tour.
As far as the other tour where they donated a dollar to for every ticket sold, I’m sure they worked out the prices so they wouldn’t lose any money.

Ha ha - let’s take a guess.
All that patriotism and color guard honor and dignity, the pledge, all gimmicks.
Plus I think doing the pledge at a rock concert is an awesome awesome gimmick.

Like I said - Simmon’s momma survived a German concentration camp as a young girl.
He’s VERY conscious of what this Country means to so many people, and has always been one to give something back from his success.
Son saw them Sat.night and they did the pledge. The crowd loved it. AFAIC the Pledge of Allegiance is acceptable anywhere.
