The Seahawks have announced their plans for Sundays pregame ceremony. According to receiver Doug Baldwin, they will stand together during the national anthem. They will do so with their arms interlocked. We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, and as a team we have decided to stand and interlock arms in unity, Baldwin says in the 42-second video posted at his Twitter page. We honor those who have fought for the freedom we cherish, and we stand to ensure the riches of freedom and the security of justice for all people. Progress can and will be made only if we stand together.

Oh there are plenty of FreeRepublic drama queens who just love to be outraged.

It means that NONE of them will have their hand over their heart. When did that become a requirement? I rarely see people with their hand over their heart when the anthem plays.

My guess is if someone was to not stand for the anthem then they are symbolizing themselves as not part of the arms locked team more than being a symbol for BLM. If so, smart move by the coach.

But they will be standing and paying respect to the flag and the anthem. It's what I do in the stands, and what most fans do in the stands. Good for the Seahawks.
To: SandyInSeattle
I do. And I sing.
And you’re right, most of the people around me don’t.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

I’m usually happy if the people around me stop talking for two minutes. It’s appalling how people behave when the anthem plays...

Um..., did you read the article? They are standing for the anthem. They are interlocking their arms, presumably in a show of solidarity with America.Did you read the article? They are interlocking their arms to ensure the riches of justice for all people.
They should go to another country to find one that will give them justice. Apparently they have decided this one doesn't.

I’m thinking they’re interlocking arms so no renegade players will decide to kneel or sit.

They seem to me to be making an ambiguous gesture that the leftists can interpret as a protest but others can interpret as innocent.
