I'm betting, however, that the Navy buckles and this POS "sailor" receives a slap on the wrist. It pains me to think this.
Puke alert.
[The sailor said she will not stand for the anthem “until this country shows they’ve got my back as a black woman.”]
Perhaps she should visit one the the 3rd world Islamic shitholes in the Middle East for a while, she’ll learn VERY quickly that this country has her back and those of other black women.

Don’t NAVY recruits have to take a pledge of loyalty to America to be enlisted?
may?
The Navy has changed drastically then. Back in the day this would have been dealt with severely and swiftly.
She needs to leave. The country. A lot of people do.
As Trump stated....the Admiral staff has been decimated and replaced with PC officers.....
Your assessment is probably and unfortunately correct....
Many people don’t understand that the military functions under different laws and rights than ordinary civilian life. This often bites lower ranking soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen in the backside when they pull a stunt like this. When you’re in uniform, you are *required* by military regulation to stand, face the colors, and salute when outside. You don’t have a right to free speech when in uniform, as well as a great many other restrictions. Hopefully, the Captain’s Mast will provide this sailor with some perspective on the limits she must live under, and the XO can pull her aside later and correct her misinformed status.
MAY?
Kick her out of the US Navy.
Her loyalty is under question...
Captain’s Mast.
That was the first thing that came to my mind too.
“’The Star-Spangled Banner’ and Slavery
Is the legacy of black slavery enshrined in a lesser-known stanza of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”? Some historians say yes.”

Oops. The Sailor forgot they don’t have the same rights as Americans when they join the military. Perhaps after being punished, the Sailor may realize that.
7 days on bead and water as a result of Captain’s mast & IW UCMJ
I notice her name is omitted from the article, written by a one Anna Giaritelli. Was it the Navy or Anna who fails to disclose this information.
I suggest this ‘sailor’ spend some time in a location where Sharia rules. Then, if she makes it back, tell us again what you don’t like about the national anthem.
A blanket party would go a long way in helping adjust her attitude.
“I’m betting, however, that the Navy buckles and this POS “sailor” receives a slap on the wrist.”
Slap on the wrist? She’ll get promoted and sent to OCS. She’s got “officer material” written all over her.
"No can do, Officer of the Deck, I will NOT turn the rudder to new course 090, until this country recognizes its injustices..."
"No, Captain...I will NOT stand at attention during your punitive mast until my grievances have been heard..."
Not EVEN a slap.
Send her to Captain’s Mast (non-judicial punishment for you non-Navy types) and recommend her for an other than honorable discharge.
