Methinks the Democrats were just trying to take him out of contention for higher office (the Presidency) and put Hillary’s buddy McAuliffe in the Governor’s mansion to help with VA. Now that it’s a done deal the charges can be dropped. How convenient.

“Where do I go to get my reputation back ?”

Although the REAL reason they didn’t continue the prosecution, is a certain Presidential Candidate who makes McDonnell look like a penny candy thief in comparison to a bank robber. . .

Probably so they can point to this and say “Cases about corruption of public officials are hard to prove and rarely succeed” in defense of a decision not to investigate the Clinton foundation scandals...

Very true, but unfortunately for McDonnell and his wife, their thinking at the time was too parochial instead of national. Sure, in Virginia, what they did was - technically - not a big deal (Tim Kaine...ahem!). Granted, the rules for Republicans are so, so different than those for Democrats (Tim Kaine...ahem!). Regardless, when they got involved with that vitamin guy, they should have backed away if he had any national career goals (and what Virginia governor doesn't?).

Now, any future plans for the national stage are shattered. Adios, Governor.

As Reagan’s Labor Sec. said when exonerated from false charges brought against him by Democrats, “ Where do I go to get my reputation back?” Democrats are such masters of corruption that they never suffer for ruining the lives of Republicans. But there is comfort in God’s promise: “Vengeance is mine. I will repay says the Lord.”

Political witch hunt. American courts are corrupt playgrounds for Democrats to destroy political enemies.

There was quid, but there was no pro quo.

They’re dumb, but they didn’t sell favors like the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.

Compared to Clinton’s Bag Man who now occupies the Gov.’s mansion, McDonnell is an Eagle Scout.

The Supreme Court overturned the conviction. That’s why the case is being dropped.
