A Harvard Law School study reports that racial bias, over-aggressive prosecutions and inadequate representation for poor defendants plagues Harris Countys handling of death penalty cases.
Juries in Harris County, where Houston is, have imposed the death penalty more than any other county in the U.S. since the 1976 reinstatement of the death penalty, though the report by the schools Fair Punishment Project notes that the number of death sentences has fallen from 53 in 1998 through 2003 to 10 since 2010.
Harris County was named one of 16 outlier counties in the U.S. where five or more death sentences were assessed in 2010-15. In the eight counties examined by the study, 41 percent of the death sentences were given to black defendants and 69 percent to minorities overall. In Harris County, all defendants condemned since 2004 are from minorities.

What about gender? Overwhelming against men? If so, therefore using this logic, the study is also sexist against men.
Only uneducated, working class white men are for death penalities.

Show me the demographics for Harris County, hahvud.
I think I know where the bias really is.
..... It should be noted that Death Penalty Cases .... ARE BIASED! .....
.... if you're a murderer.
The death penalty unfairly targets murderers.
Oh it gets better. Without even reading the study, I can guess that the counties they selected are all rural to semi-rural, close to a major city and most if not all of those sentenced to the death penalty are not from the county.
I’m OK with this. I want white murderers executed too.
“.......most if not all of those sentenced to the death penalty are not from the county.”.......
Doesn’t Harris County include Houston which has a huge population of blacks? (I am NOT insinuating that those sentenced with the death penalty are indeed blacks).
Texas will take care of Texas, fuck you very much.
The racial and ethnic make-up of the county was 41.8% Hispanic or Latino. The population was 31.4% non-Hispanic white, 19.5% non-Hispanic black, 1.1% Native American, 7.0% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander. [wikipedia]
Thanks for the info. Tells me everything I need to know.
Unfairly targets murderers and the makes weird distinctions.
I want absolute proof that the guy is a murderer, but after that, I see no particular reason to spare a murderer who murdered his victim and not spare a murderer who murdered his victim while robbing him....or because he had a bad childhood...or because he is crazy...etc.
