Trump rules out legal status for undocumented immigrants

Donald Trump on Thursday ruled out supporting a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants, but declined to say if he still supports deporting everyone in the U.S. illegally. "There's no path to legalization unless they leave the country," Trump told CNN's Anderson Cooper following an event in Manchester, N.H.

Well, so much for the hand wringing over this.

I’m sure there will be another reason for it in an hour or so.

Some folks are eternally pessimistic.

If they can only become citizens by going out
then applying legally...they will leave.
If there is a deadline...they will leave.
If they don’t want citizenship...they can leave.

He could soften to a molten jello on a freakin marshmallow and he would still be better than Hillary.

Ha....I think the opposite.....he will be tougher than nails once elected

In any case....just enforce the existing rules in the books.

Better yet...Follow the process that is laid down...

A freeper posted awhile back...

Something like publish the proposals

and a two year process before any significant changes to immigration law can be made.

No legal status unless they leave the country and apply like everyone else. That’s the law and what he has said he will do.
I support that.
I do not support any accomodation for those who broke in and have been breaking many laws to further their illegal presence.
Cut off employment and benefits and many will leave on their own.

That is what I would have said from the beginning..yes a wall is needed obviously to keep the Jihadists from coming in..but the illegal aliens that want to come here to sponge off of our country..cut off the freebies, no more free health care, free housing, welfare, food stamps, free phones..tell illegals you come here you get NOTHING from the Govt, NOTHING..and trust me they wont bother..the reason why they come here is because they know they can sponge off of America, the same reason why women from China and Mexico come here 9 months pregnant to give birth to their babies in American hospitals, the second they pop out those kids they are set for life

Hey El Rushbo: Can we count on you to report on this on tomorrow’s program?

Please retire Rush!

The closer we get to election expect the msm to try anything and everything to swing the voters away from Trump.

“follow the law, but let them stay if they fit {criteria} with certain {restrictions}”.

The one thing wrong with that is that it would take an act of Congress to permit the lifting of the law for certain favored individuals (and would be deemed discriminatory, etc.) and we certainly do not want any immigration bill to be put before Congress with the democrats salivating like vultures just at the thought.

All the legal framework is already on the books for Trump to accomplish anything he wants, and that includes deportation of all illegals.

The only problem with that is illegals are already voting and that wouldn’t change with Rush’s plan.

“He said illegals who had not committed any crime other than coming here would be able to stay by paying taxes and a fine, but they would not have citizenship and so they could not vote. Let’s see how those compassionate Dems like that idea!”

After legalization, the citizenship argument will heat up naturally. Why are people denied their voting rights? They pay their taxes, so why not deny them votes? Legalization is a pandora’s box.

This is what will happen - the status quo will remain. Even Trump sees it. It makes it illegal to immigration without authorization, but everybody looks the other way, they provide cheap labor illegally, don’t pay taxes, and there is no automatic deportation. There might even be a functioning wall in the middle of the Arizon desert. Good luck with the wall in New Mexico or California.

The problem though with Rush's statement, is that the leftist advocacy groups will swing into action and demand that illegals get immediate voting rights and benefits. You know a stupid Gang of 8 or 12 will get together and work up a compromise that'll give them these rights.

I'm sorry, but this issue is cut-and-dried. I know that Trump is holding the line, but he is up against some powerful forces and I'm worried that pieces of his armor is starting to crack.

All Trump has to do is point out Mexico's immigration laws. Mexico has some of the strictest immigration laws in the world. You cannot vote as a foreigner in Mexico. You cannot buy property. Get government jobs or benefits. If you break the law, you are out of the country with no due process.

I thought that at first but they will NOT give him those numbers.

He will just lose white male votes by wavering.

Let’s not fall again for “blacks and hispanics want the same things we do”.

They DONT

“It’s all those who take what the loons on TV say that have spread this garbage”

Yes, you are 100% correct.

I lose my patience with the folks who on Monday complain about the falseness of the MSM, then on Wednesday are having the vapors over the MSMs bias spinning report of Trumps speeches. Like it is fair and correct! BAH!

What in heck is wrong with people?

I agree. Every illegal should be deported.

Logically (and Trump is very logical) if you enforce the existing laws and that is all, most of our illegal immigrants are gone.

Under the radar people who have lived here twenty years who never encounter law enforcement, never try to vote or get a drivers license, never apply for welfare or food stamps or social security wouldn’t be touched. How could they be? We don’t have any way of knowing they are here.

However, any thing that brings you to government attention, including a previous visa, an expired green card, applying for a drivers license, getting arrested, applying for assistance, etc. will get you deported.

If you get deported, you can’t come back. That will mean millions trying to get out unobserved in order to apply to come back. Especially if Trump can speed up the citizenship process.
