“Colored People” is not a racial slur. “cuhlluds” is a racial slur, because it’s a slurring of the word ‘colored’ with racial overtones.

How about the late 70s. I saw an old episode of The Incredible Hulk on MeTV Sunday night. The Hulk roars through the car wash where David Banner was working. One of the other (black) guys says, “now THAT is a colored man!”.

My WWII vet dad used to refer to some guys he served with as “colored guys”. I always would ask “What color were they?”.
