A driver on a Ramadan fast had not eaten for 16 hours before his train was derailed, a report has found. The crash, near Paddington Station, affected services for days.
A Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) report said it was "unable to determine" whether fasting and interruption to sleep was a factor in the crash. But the investigation recognised there was research showing fasting can affect people's concentration levels.
The train, which was not carrying any passengers, was automatically derailed after passing a red signal at about 18:30 BST on 16 June.

That means his last meal was at two in the morning. I don’t think the fast is the issue. If you east dinner at 6PM and skip breakfast, there’s 16 hours right there. The issue, I believe, is the changed sleep patterns to accommodate the fast.
I thought that Ramadamadingdong was over.
Made up symptoms to shield another jihadi from any kind of charges.
Two years ago, I sat in a class (9:00 to 13:00) with half the members of the Ramadan faith. The room was not air-conditioned...mid-summer heat...and you could gauge stress and inability to concentrate at absolute maximum levels of “10”.
Along about noon, you could tell dehydration was setting in and for anyone over the age of forty....blood-sugar levels were falling. Class attention? Half the class was unfocused and the instructor’s effort were null and void. Around the 3rd week of this Ramadan business....I finally gave up and quit the class. Most of the class was far behind and weren’t going to be able to participate or do well in the class.
My humble opinion is that if you are awful focused on Ramadan and trying to make it 16 hours without food or drink...I won’t hire you for any job. I won’t ride a bus with such a driver. I wouldn’t ride a cab with such a driver. I wouldn’t hire your company to install new windows in my house with a Ramadan installer guy.
Nothing personal...but your act of stupidity is a direct safety threat to those around the general public. Maybe in the year 700 era....some idiot could come up with a gimmick like this and sell the public easily on just sleeping all day and doing nothing in work. But in today’s world...it won’t work.
In this case of the subway crash...I’d bring in every single Muslim employee and give them two weeks to decide on their employment future.

“I thought that Ramadamadingdong was over.”
For the devout worshippers of Muh’mood and the Fraud in the white mosque, ramadan bombathan never ends.
Per the article, the derailment occurred June 16.
The Ramadan thing worked pretty well in the 7th century when nomadic people rode camels and lived in tents in the desert.
Today ... not so much.
Was the ignoring of the signal intentional or not? That’s the real question here, not if he was inattentive due to fasting. This happened at 6:30pm, just a little after rush hour, and while his train was empty, I’m sure there were many full trains running on those tracks.
Then *you* would be fired.
BTW did you know the new muslim mayor of London proposed charging anyone who said anything unkind on the internet about muslims.
No nation has ever survived “Diversity.”
Just ask the NTSB about blood sugar levels in fatal accident investigations. Low blood sugar is a major factor. Fasting and public transportation just do not go together. Just like legal or illegal drug use. People who have been fasting all day should not be driving and will start being a factor in injury law suits
Or maybe he just went jihad.
That’s “Londonistan”, you...infidel!
Ah, but truth is always stranger than fiction. There is a book out called “Londonistan” by Melanie Phillips. She wrote it before Mr. `Sad I.Q.’ Khan became Lord Mayor so things are even worse now than the nightmare London she describes in her book.
We have a Muslim problem here in America but it’s much worse in U.K. & western Europe. Much less so in eastern Europe for some reason if you get my drift.
Ridiculous islam, founded by a thief, pedophile and mass murderer.
Go ask the London mayor how the lives of dozens of London citizens in May of 2017 might be under a threat because of the next Ramadan. Basically, you’d have to avoid the whole tube system in London for Ramadan if he ignores this Paddington report.
We have thousands of muslim cabdrivers in the US. Wonder how many of them fast while driving, and endanger the public because of it?
“there was research showing fasting can affect people’s concentration levels”
I would bet that Captain Obvious would have written a few papers on the subject.
The BBC trying to obfuscate again? Other sources say he didn't eat or drink for 16 hours, as the idiotic muzzie rules require.
It's the dehydration that gets you. I often not eat anything all day long until a late dinner, maybe 10 p.m. But I drink lots of fluids during the day. No problems.
my friend is diabetic...he couldn't be a mussie, he needs to eat....
