When you finally come to the conclusion there is a God, youre likely to try to attempt to please Him.
And this is where it can get dangerous. You might be on your way to the sanctuary for worship, and you see a man curled up by the side of the road, bloody and beaten by robbers. Something tells you the man needs your help (thats God talking to you), but you are wearing your Sunday best, and youre not trained as a first responder, and youve been given the honor of opening todays meeting in prayer, and, besides, this guy is probably a drug addict and you have little children youre responsible for so you hurry on to church and you prove that you have the spirit of the Pharisee that weird inclination to ignore what Jesus called the weightier matters of the law.
The #NeverTrump movement is defined by this Pharisee spirit. It is chock full of it. Texas pastor Max Lucado is a great example. Max leads what he calls a red state church, but Max has a maxim: I dont want anybody to know how I vote. Max does this to make sure the Democratic voters in his church, the ones who support abortion on demand, Islamo-pandering, and class warfare are not made to feel uncomfortable. However, Max recently broke his neutrality pledge when Donald Trump called a bimbo a bimbo. According to Max:

An excellent article. This world is full of them. Sometimes even this board. :)
Yes. Thorough and well stated.
Thanks to you and your wife for the post.
I loved this! My son sent it to me. I am seeing so much of this in ‘friends’. I’ll leave it at that.
Donald Trump is more righteous than you think. He wants to protect you from Islamic zealots. He wants to protect your right to defend your families with firearms. He even wants to exempt your pulpits from IRS tyranny. He wants to end the death tax, so you can pass on your farms and your family business to your children. He wants to lower your taxes. He wants to protect the lives of unborn children and appoint Constitutional judges.
I love this last paragraph.
It might be a good idea for a bunch of us here to send this article (or the link for it) to Max Lucado, to try to enlighten him.
Here is his website, which includes a "contact" link:

We have a battle of style versus substance going on.
What has so long gone as “Christian style” has more and more disappointed me. It seems to be more in the vein of the white wash on the sepulchres than an actual attempt to approach Christ-grade purity of thought.
It’s more likely than not that when Donald Trump calls someone a bimbo, that someone has done something to richly earn it. He isn’t talking trash just to swell himself up. I’m sure the terminology could be purified to something like “slattern” but that misses 90% of the point. The figure of the whore herself was a figure of speech used by God to describe spiritual infidelity to Him.
Oh I agree with you.
And I sent it to our Pastor, we’re Catholic, too.
If you want to see what passionate Protestant looks like, please don’t look at politeniks like Max Lucado. Think of, say, Martin Luther. (Being Catholic, you oughtta know...)

But you and Max Lucado dont like his style.
Your priorities are all mixed up, just like the people who killed Christ.
GOOD READ!!!!!!!!!.......
And everybody knows what it means!.......
Good article, thanks. All Christians, Catholic and Protestants need to wake up if they think Hillary is more Christian than Trump.
Christ was sure pretty jolly rude to those Pharisees and was even getting the Romans abuzz (though not very — they tended to calm down after hearing Him out, seeing that His interests didn’t really intersect with theirs).
I think they crucified Him for this rudeness more than for anything else.
It means something like “she is selling herself out for the sake of something unworthy of America.”
Maybe Donald should have gone the whole hog and called these bimbos “whores.” And say that he was using biblical language. Now THAT would get these church ladies and laddies in a tizzy.
I have been calling the mostly Catholic NRO gan out on this, accusing them of sitting in the Flannery O’Connor chair of Christian hypocrits.
Catholic know O’Connor characters. Pure holier than thou types.
Excellent! I am sharing the heck out of this!
I think you have a very wise son.
This kind of bad attitude knows no denomination.
Happily, a concentration on Christ also knows no denomination. How can it — it’s about God not about people.
